Yes sir, when one adds a custom avatar, a custom title is also required. Glad you got it squared away.

Yes, you can change it. If you want to keep the subscrtiption, you can leave it in place. To cancel it, go to your Paypal account.

Cancelling a subscription cancels all future scheduled payments of that subscription. A subscription can be cancelled up until the day of the next scheduled payment.

Log in to your PayPal account.
Click the My Account tab.
Click the History subtab.
Click More filters, select Subscriptions and agreements, and then click Subscriptions.
Change the date back to the year the subscription was created, and then click Show.
Click Details next to the subscription.
Click Cancel Subscription.

Aye, the new subscription page will update your status automatically, within about 1 hour or less, and you will see a big Announcement thanking you and directing you to the new features at the top of the forum. You will see the SUBscriber forum and there will be a Subsim Navy badge next to your name (such as http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/picture.php?albumid=727&pictureid=6328 ). You may want to wait 60 seconds and then refresh the page, but I tested it several times earlier this year and it's working like a charm.

On the legacy donation page, when a donation is made and the contributor sees a page asking them to send their Transaction ID and forum username to subsim@subsim.com then the upgrade is done manually. I check for this about 8 times a day. Most people find and use the new automatic page. Either way is good.:up:

As far as recurring subscriptions, you can choose to cancel future subscriptions if you wish. Recurring subscriptions are very helpful and appreciated.

If you make a donation and do not get upgraded to the Subsim Navy within 1 hour, send me an email with your forum nickname and Paypal email address to subsim@subsim.com and I will manually upgrade you on the spot.

How do I cancel my subscription? My membership expired today, and I apparently had auto-renew turned on. I do not want to donate again at this time, but the site is trying to charge my paypal. Paypal declined (because i'm broke until i get paid!)

Now I can't seem to figure out how to either turn off auto-renew or cancel my subscription. I have PMed Neal and he is being helpful, but I thought I'd post here in case anyone else can help (because Neal is a busy guy), or in case anyone else is having the same issue and would benefit from this info.

Paypal says it will try to charge me again on the 16th (Sunday), so hopefully we can get this sorted before then.

The recurring subscription is not automatic and can only be repeated if you choose. I myself use a card linked to my PayPal account and my authorisation is needed before any funds are transferred. Neal (the forum owner) would have it no other way. I like a great many others in this community have never experienced a problem.

Validity periods marked * indicate that purchasing this subscription is recurring, this means after the period is complete it will be renewed if you choose.

Total money donated: $5 or $10 one time today and you are a donor until Feb 2017

hi Alan, sorry mate, we do not have any setup for credit cards. I have used Paypal for bidding on ebay, buying stuff online, and Subsim for 17 years without a single issue, I really have no problems with it so that's what we use. As mentioned above, we can also try money order or cash in the mail,and Amazon e-gift cards, be sure to include your Subsim name so I can see that you get proper credit.

I donated on the 01/03/2017 at the first officer level, It appears that I was charged again for this in April.

I am not making an issue about the amount, It is a small sum but I would like to bring it to your attention since according to my Subsim account the First officer level is good for 3 months (meaning I should've been charged again in June).

I will keep an eye out myself and be sure to update this If I get charged a further $5 in May.

You can then choose the level of donation you wish to give.

Ive been a paying subscriber to this website for years.

Now I have come back after a break away and find that I can not access the any of the subscribers extras.

No Subscribers forums
No downloading of bonus mods
No access to any of the other downloadable mods

I know that my interest in subgames comes and goes at a quim but when my interest is rekindled and I come back to play some Silent hunter it is frustrating to say the least that I have to jump through hoops to get access to something that I regularly pay for year on year.

Would be great if you reinstate my access asap

Well, I'm sorry about that. This is the second time I've encountered this lately, I don't know why but the forum switched off your access even though I see you definitely are a long term subscriber. I have reactivated it, please accept my apologies. Let me know if this happens again, of course I will fix it. I need to see what is causing this.

I had probs with vBulletin many years ago and binned it. Since then invision power. bought software outright for $149 (much cheaper then vBulletin) and $50 a year, in two payments, for all upgrades. They also did the database conversions to their software. Upgrades are easy via admin panel. The upgrade appears in your panel, and a button to start the upgrade automatically.

I also note you are on a very old version which I dont think is supported anymore. Current ver is 5.4.

Just to clarify: - If I make say a $10 donation this is valid for 6 months. If I pay by PayPal will this automatically make another payment in 6 months time or will I receive notification before it's taken out? In other words how do I cancel if I decide to. I went into PayPal to pay and the message there was that it would be an automatic regular subscription.
