Thomsen's sound mod questions...

I noticed a lot of seemingly extra files that I do not think the game does/can use?

I only installed the sound folder because he had other folders with settings etc that I have already modded myself or are part of other mods.

I looked through the files though and did not see where it made use of the extra files.

Are these alternate files you can rename and use or what?

abstract random example; creaks1 - 47 when I'm only aware that the game uses 1 - 4.

Am I missing something?


Nice mod by the way, I've customized it a bit to my liking but I do that with every mod. Which is why I run so many freaking mods but takes a while to make them all work together flawlessly.

The stock game may only use 4 creaks, but Thomsen added a whole load more to each U-boat.

Included in the mod is an interior folder, inside that is a folder for each sub type interior.

Finally, inside each of there is a dsd file for the sub interior eg: for the type VII it is NSS_Uboat7_CR.dsd.

If you open this up into S3D, you'll see Thomsen added a whole load of sounds to the interior, including all of those creaks :DL

You only installed the sounds folder, so you'll not be getting Thomsens Soundpack in all it's full glory.

It'll still sound pretty damn good, but you'll probably be missing things.

I myself did not install the cfg or menu folders of this mod as they overwrote the Commands_en.cfg and en_menu.txt from other mods I use.

When I have time I'll use WinMerge to figure out the differences and make these files compatible with my modlist.

I am a definite tweaker, if I haven't modified something or added something once a day I feel cheated.:D
