View Full Version : Noob ask for help about the behaviour of destroyers in single mission

Hi everyone here, I m clear you know much more about the mission editor and game configuration than me. now I would like to ask you for help about the behaviours of DDs in my single mission.
Discription:

I have created a historical mission in the mission editor, but in game, escort DDs did not give me a glance at all until I ahead flank or rise my periscope very high or I surface my boat. the steps I create this historical mission are as following:

1.New mission, select sea layer on the right, Roster is british, and drag 3 battleships HMS Queen Elizabeth,HMS Barham,HMS Valiant to the map, set their speed to 18 kts.

2.right click the HMS QE and click "create group from the unit" then raname the group "A" in the left property options.

3.drag 8 destroyers from the "sea" layer to the map, arrange them to group "A", change speed to 18 knots. Other properties remain default so their icons disappear.

4.arrange the group so that all 11 ships look nice, three battleships a line with eight destroyers arround. Then add waypoint for the group and make them head to the waypoint.

5.drag a VIIC boat, and set relative properties , then objective, trigger, then validate the mission, all seem no problem.

6, In game, having got my position, I fired at all three battleships, no torpedo missed, but those stupid destroyers still moved on its own way and ignored my boat. If I remember right, they should turn and rush toward my location but they didn't, they only rush to their next waypoint without any escort/attack/seek/search behaviours.


I have tried use various types of DDs in the mission, Clemson, V&W, Black Swan, Tribal, B class, Flower corvette. None of them paid attention to me when battleships were undergo attack. So I doubt it had mistakes when creating the mission, but I don't know what it exactly is.

so that if anyone would like to help me with this annoying problem, you may test it by put the file to SH5\data\Singlemissions and then run the game, choose the historical mission HMS Barham, or look over .misge files then analysis the issues. I did not load any mods when creating and testing this mission.

Fix the behaviours of destroyers for me pls? THANKS!

I have checked over the mission and it looks ok.
can you post your mod list as I think your issue lies elsewhere.

First tested with no mods loaded, a clean SH5;

And other tests with IRAI, without any other mod.

Both doesn't work.

eh, I remain it default after I downloaded it. Nothing changed.

IRAI Version 1.0.0.

having modified and tested whole night, still doent work. It seems that I have to give up try it more =(

IRAI version 1.0.0 WILL NOT WORK with convoys. It is for testing only single units currently.

From post #1 of IRAI thread:

Test version of v1.0.0. This test version will allow you to test the single unit AI only. If you try to use this test version with any kind of ship convoys it will fail miserably. Airplane convoys and sub wolfpacks are ok to test. Ships HAVE to be single unit. Remove ALL previous versions of IRAI before enabling this test version (or you WILL CTD!). The reasons for releasing this test version are:
- test the new AI behavior (single ship, subs, airplanes, unknown units)
- allow you all to test EVERY possibly scenario with these units (i.e. airplane vs sub, ship vs sub, ship vs airplane, sub vs ship with ship not detecting you while firing torps, etc.). You all will have to make the single missions to test these scenarios.
- see if loading times are decreased
- see if fps is improved with multiple units
- Give me feedback so I know what's working/not working/needs improvement

but even IRAI 0.0.30 enabled, it still not work neither in a merchant convoy nor in a capital ship convoy.

I will reinstall SH5 tonight and have my last try. Desperate
