-----The title should be: OLC Gold MKII GUI, not simply OLC.-----------
Hey all,
I went on a Mod-binge and installed a lot of mods from this thread.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170090
Now, I downloaded the latest OLC gold and ACM reloaded. Buuuut, now I'm confused. Firstly, whenever I bring up my recog. manual in the attack periscope, I cannot click the 'next' or 'previous' buttons that are meant to switch me between each nation's pages. Instead, every time it thinks I've clicked on the 'Jugoslavien' nation and so takes me to that nation's ships! How do I click in between nations like I used to?

Also, another little issue, but this is me just being a newb. How do I calculate speed, bearing and range now? I used to use the notebook and everything, but I have noe clue what to do now because that's all gone! :P
Any help would be appreciated chaps!
P.S To help coerce answers from you, here's a little something I made on MS Paint I thought some of you might like! :)

Ok, answered my own question! The 'next' and 'previous' buttons are in a different point. All good. However, what do I do about calculations of speed/range/bearing?

OLC and AMC are two different GUI mods and should not be loaded together.

AMC is based on the OLC base, but is a totally own design. Maybe you mod order messed with the Rec-Manual. (missing buttons or such)

As for calculations.
Those GUI's use a far more complex means to calculate the targeting solution than vanilla.

You need to use the AOB-Finder, Periscope-Makings and the stopwatch to calculate speed, bearing and Angle of Bow. Both īGUI's come with ample documentation that explain the process of calculating up to the dot.

Hope it helps. If it doesn't post yer load order Matey! Harhar:arrgh!:

So what you're saying is it's a bad idea to run both ACM Unloaded and OLC MkIId 'Gold' on the same SH3 install using JSGME? Do I only need to run OLC MkIId or ACM?

Unfortunately, I can't find any explanations in the readme's provided. :/

..Ok, I'm an idiot. Found a comprehensive guide in the official ACM Reloaded thread here. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=155366&highlight=ACM+reloaded
This is th most difficult thing I've ever done! How are you meant to do all these crazy calculations in heavy weather!?

Disregard my OLC and ACM, I totally confused the matter.

Yeah ACM, comes on top of OLC mk2. There is mod-order on the link you posted. Sorry for any confusion! :shifty:

Anyway.

As for your question how to do the calculations in bad weather...well with math!

It'll get easier once the number-crunching is done a few times. Might want to keep pen and paper ready...
Once you get the feel for distance and speed you'll be able to estimate the calculations a bit!;)

No worries, I got my mods all in working order, and after lots of hours of practice, I can now hit a target from all sorts of angles, and using magnetic pistols. A lot of the time I'm estimating though, so not so accurate, because I never find the time to do all those calculations so fast! Those kaleuns really were genius back in WW2!
Just to clarify, on the OLC+ACM GUI mod, in the Periscope view (F3), the two dials down the bottom are angle on bow (A.O.B) and bearing, yes? A.O.B being where I am in relation to target and Bearing being where he is in relation to me?

Yup, those Kaleun's had a class-room with a periscope and practiced the calculations and estimations with models ships they could see tru the scope.

There was a propaganda vid, that showed a class in action. Quite nifty!

And yeah, AOB is the relative bearing of your bow to the target.

Alas I'm not sure about the Buttons in ACM ( I'm using MaGUI ) but is should be one of those disks.:88)
