Hi Everyone,

I am playing GWX, and I am trying to make a list of all the escorts that would potentially escort an allied convoy at any time during the war. I have made the list by the folder names in the data/sea folder. Could a scripting expert take a look at this list and confirm/correct it? That would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance.

Here is the list:

Allies (and potential allies):
NDD_A&B
NDD_Bourrasque
NDD_C&D
NDD_Clemson
NDD_Fletcher
NDD_Hunt I
NDD_Hunt II
NDD_Hunt III
NDD_J
NDD_L
NDD_N
NDD_Q
NDD_S
NDD_Soldati
NDD_Somers
NDD_SU1
NDD_Town
NDD_Tribal
NDD_V&W
NDE_BPS
NDE_Buckley
NDE_Evarts
NDE_JCB
NDST
NFF_CaptainI
NFF_CaptainII
NFF_Colony1939
NFF_RiverClass
NFF_Tacoma1939
NMS_1935
NMSTR
NPC_Black_Swan
NTB_1924
NTB_1937

NSHs?

German (always Axis):
NDD_Type7y
NDD_Type34
NDD_Type36A

Again, thank you for your help.

Type7y is a Soviet destroyer class, I think.

NDD_Soldati is an Italian class of destroyers. I guess that after September 1943 they could escort Allied convoys in the Mediterranean, but some could also be with RSI.

That would certainly explain why I had never seen it in the game before. :hmmm:
I could be completely wrong about anything about this list. I haven't played much where I would be in contact with anything Soviet.

Just to clarify: for the purposes of my little pseudomod project, any country which was part of the Allies and thus were enemies of the axis, and escorted convoys should be considered allies.

The most important piece of information is whether I have left any potential convoy escorts out (or added something that shouldn't be in at all for that matter) of any sort. :88)

If I have all of them, then it will work still for my purposes.

NTB_1924 and 1937 are the German Moewe and Wolfe class heavy torpedo boats (light destroyers).

I don't see the Flower class corvettes on your list.

Ah, ok. Thanx, thats what I need. I guess I didn't recognize those.

Oops, I did this kinda late last night. I seem to remember coming across those, but I didn't put them in for some reason. :damn:

So include:

NCO_Bathurst
NCO_Flower

Move to Axis:

NTB_1924
NTB_1937

Anyone on what NSHs is? It has a flag on its recognition manual page (NSHs_sil.tga), but I don't recognize it.

ClassName is Smallhunter, the display name is "Sub chaser." In my unmodded GWX installation, it's only found in the Russian roster. (That's the flag it's flying in the recog manual pic.)

If you open the data/Sea folder for NSHs and then open the .cfg file, it will tell you what the ClassName is. If that isn't obvious enough to ID the ship (and sometimes it isn't) you can open the EnglishNames.cfg file located in data/Sea and look for the ClassName in that list, where it will be associated with the display name that will appear in the game for that ship should you come across it.

You can also open the NSHs_en.log file in the data/Sea/NSHs folder, which will give you the info that appears for the ship in the game's Museum feature:

Displacement: 100 t|Length: 30 m|Beam: 12 m|Draft: 4.2 m|Mast: 11.2 m|Speed: 15 knots||Main Battery:|1 x 3"|Anti-Aircraft Battery:|1 x 20mm, 2 x 12.7mm Oerlikon|ASW:|2 Depth charge racks

Sometimes that will help point you in the right direction if you have other sources regarding ship specs and armament.

If you want to know what nation(s) the ship will be sailing for in the game, go to the data/Roster folder and do a search of that folder for the ship by ClassName. Your results should show you which nation or nations' Roster folders the ship's class appears in, which will tell you whose flag(s) it will be sailing under.

The same stuff holds true for any class of ship that has a data/Sea folder. :yeah:

Edit: I've got names in my ShipNames file (for Commander) for that class of this sort: BO-221, BO-222, etc., but for the life of me I can't remember any more what specific real life class of ship it is.
