View Full Version : Have lost patience with Sony

Well i'm at the end of my patience with Sony. They keep saying that the PSN network will be up in a few more days, but it is now 3 weeks. I am giving them until friday and then I am going to probably trade in my PS3 for an Xbox. I am really starting to miss Bad Company 2. 1 week sucked, 2 was pushing it, but 3 weeks and i have had it. plus the company is saying that all services wont be back online till the 31st. Sony you suck ball's

I wouldn't trade in my PS3 just because PSN is down. I'm happy to wait for a secure gaming service to be back online rather than one that can be taken down seemingly at will by a bunch of hackers with nothing better to do with their time.

Indeed. Also... Well, if a hacker wants to get into a system, they will get in. There's no such thing as 100% secure, it just takes some time and dedication.
Perhaps Sony's security was lacking, and yes, it is their responsibility to keep that data safe. But even so, blame falls on the hackers for breaking in there.
Seeing a lot of hate directed at Sony while the people that actually commited the crime seem largely ignored. :hmmm:

IT is not that PSN is down. It's that Sony seems incompetent and their public relations on the matter are abysmal.

I back up Arclight on everything he said, with one tiny little arguement. Sony has not been very informative AT ALL. I think it is Sony's fault that they are getting so much of the blame because their PR department is about as responsive as UBI when it comes to Silent Hunter.
I mean ok.. we don't know who took down PSN, fair enough. We don't know when PSN will be secure enough to bring back online...hmm ok that seems vague but I suppose better safe then sorry. You will get free stuff when PSN comes back up one free month of premium for the fact we lost all your secure information... hmm.. the risk to reward there seems off balance but I can't expect you to go out on a limb for me I put my info out there to be stolen.
So yeah Sony isn't really to blame for being all evil and terrible. BUT they could have had PR put a spin on all this and really treated their customers better to save alot more face then they have.

What you forget is the fact that Sony is a Japanese company, sure the American/European PR departments could have been more informative, but I doubt they can comment on the situation without clearing information through the heads of the company. I'm pretty sure the heads are still busy with whatever is going on in Japan. While yes they could have given us more information , I don't blame them for anything. But then again I lost my CC(found it about two weeks after I got the new one :haha:) shortly before the information was stolen so I was never concerned about that part. Sure it's been an inconvience, but the fact that they are giving us free stuff to make up for it, along with the fact that the service is free to begin with, and that the company was busy working during Golden Week (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Week_%28Japan%29), I can't say I'm really upset with them. Atleast not to the point of selling my PS3, but then again I'm not a heavy online player so the only thing I'm missing is the Store(got a $20 PSN card as a gift recently), and the trophies.

I was kind of hoping some teddies would be thrown from prams, looking to pick up a cheap(ish) slim to replace my fat but people are obviously more patient than I thought!
Sony needs to take a long hard look at Toyota's handling of bad PR events, hackers need their index fingers chopping off.

Hackers get their brains fried in the ghost in the shell series. I think that's a fair punishment.

But if they had their brains fried we would have no neuromancer.

After thinking long and hard, I believe I will save up a little and get a new PC. Since Battlefield 3 will be coming out later this year, I want to spend the extra coin and get a rig that will run 3 on pretty high settings. I also look forward to finally getting windows 7. On a side note, now I can't even watch netflix on my PS3. My rage at Sony is reaching the threshold.:damn:

Since when? I was able to watch Netflix up until my Internet died.

What's it say? Are you sure it's Sony's fault and not netflix's?

When I start the netflix feature, It asks me to sign in to PSN. I hit x then get the error message about tthe network being down. So I hit o and back out, immediately it asks me to sign back in. Usually I have to go through the failed sign in process twice for netflix to work. However, for the past 3 days it just keeps asking me to sign in infinitely. everytime I hit back it immediately asks me to sign in again. I truly cannot get to the viewing menu.

What I would do is hit X to sign it, it would say PSN is under maintenance. Pressing X again would take me to the Netflix movie.

I wish people would stop getting so pi**ed at Sony, I'd much rather them take a bit more time over getting it right than rush it out like most other companies would. After all we are being compensated for a free service being down. STFU and get on with your life.

On a side note PSN is in fact back online today :D

OK - I haven't seen it elsewhere on here, but I've only just come on and so haven't looked very hard, but PSN has reviewed it's 'Welcome Back' policy and is giving away two free games from a list of five - and they're all reasonably good games too.

and IGN's verdict on it

Some EU countries, for some reason, differ in the offer - I don't know for better or not?

Here comes my 'ungrateful' (as seen by some) rant.
Sony are clever devious underhanded buggers. They truly are.
To offer games that are this old and this popular as part of a Loyalty reward for persevering with the data breach and PSN downtime, is nothing short of a big F you to anyone who has been loyal to the PS3/PSN since it's launch.
Out of the 5 PSN game and the 4 PSP games, how many do you think I already own?
Chuffing all of them. So that's my reward for remaining supportive, loyal and dedicated to the PS brand.
That'll teach me.
Now, the next part of the package is the enrollment to 30 days free PS+ service and all that entails (60 days for existing PS+ subscribers). Very nice on the face of it but beware of the following:
1)Cloud Storage is only accessible while subscribed. If you're not paid up, you loose the data.
2)Games, DLC and other Free Content obtained through PS+ will be unusable after the sub expires, requiring you to re-subscribe to use it again.
and finally, this is the really clever bit:
3)PS+ Subscription AUTO RENEWS. That's right, unless you manually opt out, you're signed up again without your knowledge. How many of the 77 million PSN accounts will get suckered by this?
:nope:
