Does anybody know how I can change the positions of the crewmen on the conning tower in s3ditor? Or at least which file I have to access to change this?
They tend to get in my way when I stand at the front of the tower, and I'd like to be able to move some men further back..

Hi mate,
Just open your desired Turm and located the DMY_Soclu for each crew members ex : DMY_Soclu_UZO etc.

Can someone point me to the file to change the players position on the deck.I have setup a good spot for the TypeIIa by changing the global camera position in camera.dat.But now have advanced to IID and find I am inside the WO's head.:wah:

You have to open the conning tower .dat file in s3ditor. You can find it in you sh3 map under data/objects. Depending on which tower you have on your boat you open turm2d_1.dat or turm2d_2.dat. Than search for the nodes Hans mentioned earlier. Worked perfectly for me :yeah:

No problem. btw; you'll probably notice that there are eight nodes that are called 'dmy_soclu' or something like that. (At least, on my type IXc tower there were eight)
Each crewmember on the bridge is linked to two nodes; I think one is the crew model with his normal uniform, and the other one with his' bad-weather gear' on. So if you don't change both, when you're in bad weather your crew will be in their original positions.

Hm I think we have a misunderstanding here... I was talking about the positions of your crewmembers. I changed them because the front of the conning tower got too crowded. The position of the camera itself would be a completely different file I'm afraid.
I think that would be cameras.dat which is in data/library. But I have no idea which nodes or values you would have to change there... Maybe someone else can tell you.

I think it must be in the turms file though since you stand off center when on the IID compared to being centered on the IIA.

You could be right :hmmm: When looking at the nodes from the tower file, I came across Dummy_2d_2_conning_deck_high.
And in the camera.dat file there are also references to 'dummy'. So perhaps that is the node that controls your own positions. Try changing that one and let me know if it works. Good luck.

I just walk to a part of the deck where they aren't. The very front, just to the right of the UZO, is a favorite.
Also sometimes I move some of them to "storage", especially in a Type II where men are at a premium.

Look at the screenshot:

Open with S3D the .cam Files of your current use turm, Path for example:
data\Objects\Turm7b_1_hd.cam (here in my example the first Turm of an VIIB).
Then go to Node 4: EditObjPos > and then 5: EditObjPos
Then set a hook (look at #1 in the screen-shot) and set the values as you want (#2)!!!
You can try my values you see in the picture, then you have the Player-Position similar as in SH5 (in the front of Conning-tower), maybe you like it !!!

I don't have the freecam on deck mod installed.I actually never use it even inside the sub.
And your right about the shortage of men on a typeII.I think what would help is to make the crew on deck take over the 3 diving positions when the sub actually dives.Isn't that the procedure they employed?

While we have you here.....what do I change so that the WO becomes clickable where I enter the spot they are standing in.I love taking over the NO spot as it gives me a wider view of the sub when diving and a quick turnaround and I have access to map and check depth sonar thing.

Can anyone help me here?I wanna change the position of where you stand while at deck gun to give a feel of being at deck gun and not 5 ft away.I also wanna change the position I stand in the conning tower,command room,radio room,captains bed etc.
Looking into objects turmXX.cam there are two editobjpos variables so I think the conning tower is the one I haven't changed...that being the conning deck.But where is the command room,captains bed etc.:06:
