Can anyone help me with creating a custom emblem?? I can open the files but I cannot really edit them to make the custom emblem I want. I also don't understand which parts of grey area are which (The side, front and what not) if someone would be so gracious as to possibley volunteer to make the custom emblem for me I would be greatly appreciated!!

First you need a program that will allow you to edit tga files.
Gimp is a free program that will do that.

Start by placeing some text on each section.
That will allow you to see where each section renders.

The over all thing is to insure all the background you want transparent
is the same color.

If you use a custom name for your texture you won't need to back up the included textures.
I call mine Test-7c1 and so on.

So this is the 7c_1 template

This is what part is what

If you use this second image the lettering will show up on the Turm.
Notice that all Grey areas have been changed to the purpleish.
That cause those areas to not render.
The Game looks at the upper left pixel and uses that color as the transparent color.
So it can be any color you like.
So here's what it looks like in Game

Okay but I thought the mod was asking to back up my old emblems, base ones if you will. And using the GIMP file can I take a picture, say of a grim reaper and paste it in there? Or do I actually have to draw pictures in. What I wanted for my emblem was the grim reaper holding a torpedo instead of a scythe.

You can cut and paste like was done here.
This is the 7B example

And in Game

AHhh okay, thank you privateer! I'd hope to have an emblem on my submarine sometime soon, is there any ruler reference I can use or something to make sure both images are "Centered" With eachother on the sides?? OR do I just have to guesswork it?

You should be able to do some type of measurement in your paint program.
Like over laying a grid to guide you.
The 7's are pretty much equal as to the sides so it should be quite easy to get a good result.

The 9's are a bit different due to thier shapes.

Alright, then what would I do about the grid?? Delete it all somehow ?? (Im assuming it would be in a layer like if I used photoshop?) And thank you very much Privateer! I will get to work sometime soon on my custom emblem!

Oh I have another question, I have DFA's Flags and pennants enabled, and your mod seems to disable its ability to function?? Is there any way to circumvent this? I havent tried the most obvious being enabling your mod before the flags and pennants one yet, but if that doesnt work do you know of any ways?

I'm not sure how it is done in GIMP, but in PhotoShop I select
View-Show-Grid
That puts a visible grid over the image.
It does not place it into the image and is not saved in the image.

OK, here's a guide on useing the grid in GIMP

Ace's mod has both included.

I will be releaseing the base 3d objects with complete instructions
on how to use them soon.

It's easily done with any 3D program and S3D
I've done the hard part by creating the new objects the textures appear on.
