Hi, can anyone give me some advice about how to survive Patrol 6? I've done it several times and haven't been able to get through it. Thanks for any advice.

You describe it as if there were "levels" that you play in a specific order. But there is no specific "6th patrol" in SH3/GWX. It just seems as if you have been unlucky on your 6th patrol several times in a row. If you could describe in what situations you died maybe some skippers could give you survival hints.

Thanks for the info. My Patrol 6 has always been in high seas, I find the convoy and a frigate comes out of nowwhere and gets me. They don't even ping me and I am at periscope depth. Any suggestions?
The escorts can see you Periscope. And the Sonar-Operator in the enemy ship can hear you if you get close or careless enough!
And Playing GWX makes the AI- nasty as hell!
What year are you (in the War) ??
You gotta be more aggressive! :arrgh!: :03:

Don't keep your scope up for extended periods. Take a peek every now and then but keep it short and sweet. Also, don't raise it too high. Try to barely break the plane of the sea. Just enough for a view while also keeping your profile as low as possible.
Good luck and good hunting! :sunny:

Have the submarine detection icon enabled until you get used to the challenge, this will let you know if and when you are being detected.
In real rough seas, your conning tower can break the surface and be seen by the escorts.

At the OP, what speed are you running when underwater? Since your a new poster here, my guess is you don't understand how silent running works in the game, so I will inform you because its a handy piece of info to have. First off, destroyers either ping, or listen. Now it is my firm believe that you avoid the first of those two by avoiding the second. When they listen, they can hear you when your underwater at anything over 100rpms. Now how do I find out how many rpms Im at you may ask?? Simple, go to the inside sub view and click (Right or double left click) on your chief engineer, he's the guy that is standing next to all the dials with the two guys sitting down right in front of him. It should take you to his view, now while looking at the guys sitting down, look up and slightly to the left, you should see an engine rpm meter. Now what you do is in your interface, switch your speed dial (telegram) to the one where you can select how many knots you move at instead of ahead full, all stop, etc etc. Then select 2 and then order your chief engineer to enable silent running. Now as long as your on silent running and under 100 rpm, I even try to keep it at 50 sometimes, you should be fine. :salute:
Hope that helps!
