Note: In picture #3, Messina is an Italian Navel Base. (How COOL is that?)

I still have quite a bit to go, but this is what I am currently working on. I hope there is some interest for something like this, because I personally think the current Nav Map in OM SUCKS. Your input/feedback is welcomed.

Note: City names are currently in English. If you want some/all cities in German, someone will need to provide me with a list. Since I don't know any German.

Fantastic Nbjackso!

Just this evening I was wondering if you had decided to work on the OM map makeover after all and now I see you already started . This is great news.

I agree about the Italian airbase, it looks bad ass.

I'm willing to help with researching the city names if you'd like. I don't speak german either but I can do the same thing I did for the the sea map labels, i.e. look them up on the interwebs :DL. Last time I had pretty good luck researching the translations on Wikipedia.de and it was kinda fun.

I checked a few cities at random from your screenshots and all the ones I picked were the same spelling in german. The only one I found that was different is Athens --> Athen. So based on that I'm thinking there shouldn't be that many corrections to make.

Let me know if you need help and I can start working on a list for you.

OK, it looks like there is some positive feedback, so I will work to get this released as soon as possible. Truth be told, I've been dreading this project thinking it would be too difficult without knowing any German. Then I stumbled onto etheberge's German map labels mod, and realized he has already completed over half of the work already.:yeah:

YES, permission granted. There will be documentation in the readme file that states no written permission is needed, so long as you credit myself and the other contributors of the mod.

Thanks, it was fun to do the translation but a real pain to create all the dds files and get them to align properly in game, as you know. If you want to add even more labels it'd be nice too, I think I already forgot half the steps :-)

So looking forward to this. The nav map in OM seems bugged. When I zoom in an area reads AN15 and when I zoom out it reads AN153 or something like that with overlapping lines that make no sense. Also my mission is to patrol AN15 and the mission marker on the map is nowhere near AN15.So carry on and know that many people are looking forward to your work.

All,

Thanks for your patients. I have slowly been chipping away at it, and it's starting to look good, (at least to me). I can't promise any release dates at this time, but it shouldn't too much longer. I will try to post a couple update images in the near future.

Hit the snooze button one more time, and she'll be ready. :yep:

My girlfreined walked in right after I tapped the snooze button. She smiirked and said, "My goodness, we are UP early this morning!" I was silent--prentending to be asleep.

(She didn't know I was dreaming about the Nbjackso new make over mod.)

I don't know. From the testing I have done so far, everything seems to be fairly accurate. However, I have not tested every mod and screen resolution combination. Once I get it released, try it out and give me some feedback on what needs to be fixed/improved. I will try to help any way I can.

added this mod last. It prevents me from setting course using the course tool. I deactivated it. There is a conflict somewhere, and it could be with a mod unrelated to OM. The map looks good otherwise.

I. g. Down,

I made this mod using only the OM and OMEGU mods with the patch updates.

I took a look at what might be causing that problem. Try removing the Shaders folder before you enable the mod. However, that will cause the black outlines around the land to come back.

Let me know if this helps your problem

I deleted the shaders folder, enabled the mod, and had the same problem. Thus, I deleted the mod. If it cannot be fixed, don't worry about it. I have the mod loaded in PTO (TMO and GFO set ups), so I use it in those. Currently, I am playing OM/OMEGU/Kiub with a few other mods.

Did you ever release this?

Did you ever release this?

Yes, I released it over 2 years ago. Here is the link to the [REL] thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1651753#post1651753

I hope you enjoy it, I have not used it for quite some time now.

I was wondering if anyone is interested in a small modification I made for NMMO for OM. It changes the typeface of the major land masses, (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Greenland, North and South America) to something I feel is a little more authentic on German navigation maps.

Here are a couple of pics for you to decide.

Let me know what you think. If there is enough interest, I will upload a small patch.

Anything that makes it more realistic is a good thing in my opinion.(Oh and any reason why you decided to patch the mod after two years)
