they,ve been getting me!!! i creep along at 2 knots listening to sonar and it never fails..TORPEDOS in the WATER!!!! And i,m destoyed..never a hint of where the attacker is other that where the torps are coming from..thought maybe it was a helo always getting me but finally showed truth and saw it was a russian sub..i only use passive sonar but there isn,t even a hint of them unless i,m missing something (autocrew off)..do i have to use active to locate them???they must be standing still and not making a sound?? dirty, sneakin commies!!!!(no offense to anyone of that persuasion,,,just in spirit of the sim!!!!:D)(come to think of it,,are they commies in this scenario or Russian Federation???? have to check on that...)i,ll cover both bases......dirty,sneakin commies/Rooosskies!!!!!:DL

What game/mod version are you running?

My best guess is that your display settings are preventing you from seeing the contacts that are there, although that's usually a bigger problem with the Seawolf than the 688I. But if you haven't made sure your brightness/gamma is high enough before, it's a good place to start.

If you're running LWAMI, it's possible that the enemy subs are in the surface duct but are running their towed arrays below the layer. If you were below the layer they would be able to detect you but you'd never hear them unless you went shallow.

It's also possible that you're just running too fast. Most of the opposing subs in this mission have Pelamida towed arrays, so speed discipline is essential for getting the first shot.

Version 1.04/RA DWX (newest version)

I,m running RA and i cruise right above the layer, then dive below the layer ,,and repeat this as i am searching...

i,m running at 2 knots.

I tried another scenario and i could detect plenty of sonar hits on the broadband and narrowband waterfalls..and sure enough "torpedo in the water" looked at that bearing and a real faint chinese sub was there on narrowband running at 3 knots..
I just think that the subs are ultra quiet and they are picking me up before i detect them..

if its a kilo they are ultra quiet when they want to be and can bee a right bstrd if they are in a position to ambush you and fire a close range
