Why do the flag and smoke in the different direction!
How to modify this issue?:wah:

Turn the ship around :)

AFAIK the flags are hard coded... maybe some serious modders might have a better idea

I believe the flag is "glued" to the mast. Even if it's dead calm, the flag would still fly the same way.

As an old sailor, when you sail with the wind called a "Reach" the flag would point toward the bow. When sailing against the wind the flag points to the stern. This works the same with power boats, provided the wind is greater than the speed of the boat. That said, if the wind is calm or none, the flags and funnel smoke should should point away from the direction of the ship.

its been looked at many times and the flags are hard coded to always fly towards the stern even when ships go in reverse

smoke is also a PITA to deal with and doesnt follow wind direction like it should but it is somewhat better in how it acts so it doesnt stand out too much

The flag seems such a small thing to worry about, IMO. The smoke, I can see might be more significant. Ideally, you could see it over the horizon and judge a ships movements by it. I guess there are bigger things to worry about though.
