Well i just bought SH3 again because my old SH3 did not work on my new comp. Seeing all the new amazing mods that modders have created i decided to shelf my SH5 which i dont think will ever be fixed and try my hand at sh3 again.
I have never been very mod savvey so i need help with the installations. I wanted to know whats the best sh3 modding experience. I want to install GWX obviously but i see so many other mods (i.e graphics, merchant mod, etc.. etc..) that i dont want to run conflicts. I know there is a post out there where ppl post their mods but i could not find it. If some1 can direct me to that post or show me a good setup it will save a lot of trouble! Hey dude,
I'm new to the game but I've got some time to kill and I just thought I'd add my two cents worth.
After you get GWX3 up and running I'd totally suggest adding a GUI mod to make your experience more immersive and user friendly.
I run quite a light mod list which mainly incorperates the GUI overhaul and Flak Monkey's new interiors. There are a few GUI mods available and I've read good things about all of them but my experience is with OLC Gold and ACM reloaded which are both fantastic and I couldn't now play SH3 without them. They are especially useful if you like manual TDC/chart plotting, and they look great. OLC also contains many other fixes and enviromental enhancements whish is best explained by reading his thread.
Here's my install order in JSGME:
OLC 'Gold' MkII ~ Option 3 ~ Enviroment with EDE and GUI
OLC 'Gold' MkII ~ MkIId Update (Enable After MkIIc)
OLC 'Gold' MkII ~ Flat Sun Fix
ACM Reloaded for OLC 'Gold' MkII
ACM Lite Map
TMTv2+ThomsensShips V4.4 for GWX3+Xtra ships (Fixes the recognition manual and makes large vessels behave more realistically/look less like toy boats floating in a bathtub)
Flags_enlighten (Brightens the flags so they are easier to indentify at range and at night)
RL_E v 2 Daily Double 0600_2300 (Groups your radio messages together into batches that you receive twice a day)
FM_NewInterior_V1.0 (Extended interior for Type VII boats)
FM_NI_FIX_for_ACM_Reloaded (You need this to make the new interiors work with the ACM GUIs)
As far as I'm aware you can get all of these from the subsim downloads page.
edit: (The above list is pretty lean but it seems to work well with no problems and no CTDs so far fingers crossed)

Thanks for the advice King. But i wanted to run NYGM. I remember how realistic and immersive NYGM was and i thought grey wolves might be a little to hard on my system. Using the mods on the link Fish gave me i hope to add some graphical, map, and other mods to NYGM to make it a little more aestically pleasing. Hopefully nothing conflicts to hard. Once i get everything up and running i can show you my installation via jsgme.
O and p.s i cannot seem to dl the Sh3commander 3.0. I have sh3 commander 2.7 so hopefully there is an updater on that.

GWX3 runs fine on my laptop, but it has a dedicated graphics card (although a rubbish one) and dual core micro chip stuffs which probably helps. I haven't tried NYGM yet, I'll wait for your mod list and then give it a go. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I am unfamiliar with NYGM, so I can't speak to conflicts with those last four mods... if there are threads dedicated to them you might find more info there, or maybe do a search for them by name in the NYGM thread and see if they are discussed there.
Altho if the last one (TorpedoDamage Final) is what I think it is, that's only a graphics file (.tga) that replaces whatever you already have, and it's the one that the game uses to create the external damage you see on units with a damage model after they've taken a hit from an eel or artillery. (In GWX at least, I use one version of that mod myself and I like it.)
