Hi Guys, I have been playing Dangerous Waters for a little less than a year (It consumed my whole summer):D. I was curious about this LWAMI realism mod. I noticed quite a few people here use it. Can anyone tell me what is does. Pros and cons??
Thanks

Heh, try downloading it an see for yourself. :arrgh!: There's a large change log that comes with it.
But, in short:
-Totally revamps sensors and weapons on most (if not all) objects in the game. They have been altered to be more realistic based on publicly available information
-The AI has gotten a major upgrade and are now more deadly
-The noise levels of boats have been rescaled
-Adds (a lot) more AI units
-a bunch of other stuff that I don't remember
Pros:
-See above
-Almost never has any bugs, and when one is found it is quickly fixed.
-You get active community support both here and on Commanders Academy ( http://www.commanders-academy.com/forum/content.php )
-More stuff gets added or changed periodically.
Cons:
-Doesn't add any new playable platforms. However, LWAMI 3.10 has a new feature that replaces one of the Kilos with the Russian Kilo B-871 Alrosa, a kick-ass variant of the standard Kilo. New model and everything.
-Doesn't fix some of the hard coded bugs and problems in DW.
So give it a shot!

Thank you very much, two more questions:
Can it be uninstalled?
When this mod is installed, is the game referred to DWX 3?

1) Yep, the mod installs in a way that is very easy to uninstall.
2) No, DWX is another mod, also referred to as "RA," which I think stands for "red alert" or something like that. There's lots more information that I can't provide (because I don't use it) in this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=145517
I hear they've made quite a bit of progress with the mod.
:salute:

I just installed DW and installed the LwAmi v3.10 Mod (http://www.commanders-academy.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=161) (it installs 10 mods) but when i try to activate LwAmi_Mod it gives an error saying it will interfere with other mods installed... Did anyone else get the same thing?? Should i go ahead and install that particular part?

1) Make sure you aren't running any other mods.
2) Check to make sure you don't have both the LwAmi_Mod and LwAmi_Mod_APAD activated. It's either one or the other, so choose.
3) Make sure that your choice is activated first and thus at the top of the JSGME list.
If you still get the message and you're sure you aren't running any other mods, just go ahead and acknowledge it and activate anyway.
BTW, the splash screens sometimes say that. As long as you have only one activated and it's below the base LwAmi mod on the activated list, you should be fine.

Well that seems to be pretty important info that shouldve been included in a simple stupid text file... i downloaded the mod as soon as i installed DW, the mod had 10 mods within it with no other info... so now based on what you are saying i think i now have it down to 3 , or 4 from that list.. I had to remove one that was a font mod or something cause it made the fonts un readable....

As pointed out above, not all of the installed packages need or even can be activated together. For starters the basic LwAmi mod and the Alrosa version. Same goes for the splashscreens - activate only one of them at one time. Actually if you dont activate one you should get the basic Lwami splashscreen so you dont have to activate one at all. The Kilo Optics and Fonts mod can be activated together. Make sure to have the lwami mod on top of the list.
The error message is normal - happens because the basic lwami mod changes most of the files (incl the splashscreen) the other files will want to change - just agree ... wont be a problem.
