ok i've been playing around with mep3.0 and being that this is a totaly awsome mod ive been trying to swap some little files from sh5 to the mep3.0 mod. heres what i've come up with.....
i've managed to swap the wakes to make them look like sh5s and i have had success in doing so via some editors we all use. just real simple stuff, no hard coding or rewriting files. i have also added Seafloor SF 3 Final By Vikinger into the mod and i've taken some of the sensor and sim dat files and swaped them from sh5 to meps also. but my questions are how do i post these for download with no reconition towards me at all ofcoarse all that goes to the creators and will be listed in the readmes and i would like to know how to ask for thier permission to use them. how do i post screen shots in a post and how (this would apply to the first question) do i post some skins i have made ? right now i'm tethering internet from my phone so i don't know how long it will take and have no idea how to upload them to like gamefront. but i'm finished with one skin for the 7b and like to post it. anybody wanna shed any light on this?:salute:

For authorizations: send PM to the authors (Makman, Vikinger, and the others).

For the SH5 stuff: well...I donīt know if it is possible to make a public mod with material extracted from Ubisoft SH5. Send a PM to Neal Stevens (Commander of SUBSIM).

For screenshots: upload your images to www.imageshack.com (make your own account, itīs free). In the buttons for editing post at SUBSIM, you will see an icon with a mountain, a yellow square ("insert image", when cursor on it). Press the button, and insert the "direct link" of your image in Imageshack.

That is all.

Modders have swapped SH3 and SH4 files back and forth many times. I don't see why SH5 would be any different. There is already the SH5 Water for SH3, and SH5 ships have been imported to SH3.

well i didn't do alot really. i just swapped i file from here and from here and put them into one. i do this with most of my mods that ive downloaded and play everyday,because the way i look at it when you enable them in jsgme and one conflicts and ask you are you sure you want to enable it and you push yes it just overlaps those files with the new ones and some mods ask you to arange files in a certain order because of this. but if you take some of those mods apart and add them in yourself you have one big mod from other little mods and i usually dont feel the need to post them as i create them for my entertainment. like for example i love meps 3.0 but i find that the wake is not as great and doesnt flow with his mod. so i worked alittle and found something that looks better and flows with his mod and now i'm trying to figure out how to modd the water colors. i just had these questions and i will get right on in. thank you. :salute:

OK, good news! SH5 water - I think - hasnīt nothing of SH5, only the relative appearence.

Itīs true: there are some stuff of SH4 in SH3 mods.

ok i've expierimented some more and found that if you mix olcs env with meps sky files and olcs scene.dat you get something totally awsome looking with the wake and foem from sh5. i'll have pics later,uploading now. i have a another question though. in one of my pics you can see a polygon like shape in the water. how do you correct this?

i'll have to do a longer patrol to get the bad weather. it looks good but it needs little touch ups here and there. i just don't know where to look actualy to correct some stuff to flow with the rest of the mods.

Any date for the publishing of the mod?

Suggestion: load the "Bismarck" mission, there is some bad weather in that, and take the screenies.

I suppose you use MEPv3, this is a 20 KM environment. That need the MEP fix for sensors. If you mix others envs, take care of the sensors.dat file. :03:

Aahh,ok ill try that. I thought olcs mod was 20km. I'll still give it a try. I still dont have a date for release. I still have to find original authers and ask them for permission and do some more testing cuz I dont want any errors cuz I wont know how to fix them yet. Yes I used meps v3 for the sky and olcs gold for the water. Tried the sh5 water mod, didnt have great results. Thanks.

hello Drakkhen20,

you can use whatever you want from M.E.P but have in mind that 'mixing' things is not so simple as it looks and ,also, i wouldn't recommend to do so ...unless you know what you are doing !
anyway...if something goes wrong will not blow anyone's pc so give your shots !

about your questions : for altering the water's color is a combination of many things (at scene.dat ,skycolors.dats and envcolors.dats) BUT the basic and more 'effective' settings for the water are the 'waterlightcolor' and 'waterdarkcolor' inside the envcolors.dat and the specular.tga image inside the skycolors.dat
these are the basics...so you can start from there


about the really annoying ''polygon effect'' is something that is unsolved till today. i am almost convinced that the solution for this is 'hiding' somewhere in executables files so i believe that only people who can 'look' inside these files can 'heal' this bug.

so if you break that then you could very well break the whole clear water look in sh3 thats hard coded correct? thank you very much for letting me use your mod and yes i'm finding out that this isnt a easy task. but with anything i start on that deals with this game i start to figure that out. thank you for shedding some light on this.
