Is it possible to change the crew's name and rank in a campaign/single patrol missions???
Naming people I know is much more fun...
I'd put my brother as XO..:salute:

SH3 Commander lets you do it in SH3. Unfortunately, while it's almost certainly possible, no one has created such a function for SH4.

Don't think you can the rank but you can the names. Go to your SH4 saved game files in your documents/sh4/data/cfg/savedgames/0000000x.
Write down the names of the crew in your boat that you want to change.
Open the saved game you want to change with notepad and click edit/find. Then type in the last name of the crewman you want to change, let it search, then replace it with the name of your choice. After you do it once it's easy.
TIP: Make sure you look at the first names also because many times crewmen have the same last name.

Kyles, is it the activeplayerunits file to edit? Tried it but the name remains unchanged...

Yes it is activeplayerunits. Make sure your changing the correct saved game file. I always load the game, save and then the correct file is time stamped. I just changed mine for my new career and it worked fine.

oops. I was changing a War Patrol saved game....not a career one.
One thing that I noticed and posted already is that in War Patrols you cannot change the hull damage to zero.
I'll try a career saved game then thanks again...

In career mode I did get the names but changed the active units from the UPCInitial subfolder...

Why not for SH4?
Because, as I've said many times, JScones made SH3 Commander and doesn't want to do it for any of the others, and none of the small handful of people here who know programming want to do it either.
