stoianm BrighterNights modv1.
This mod increase the exterior bright
to have brighter nights.
Installation instructions.
Install last after other mods.
Install with the mod enabler(jsgme)
anytime eithert in port or on patrol.
This mod is in 3 versions - all 3 versions changes only the gamma value and the luminosity for the exterior filters of the game.
Note: The stand allone version of the mod was tested with MO and Env5. I have also included versions compatible with Dark Interior mod and with stoianm colored mods.
Be sure that you choose the good version of the mod before you enable.
I recommand to use the high version of this mod - do not worry you will not have the bright to high in the day time. Check at the picture below how you will see in the day time.
If you will not have the same results in game as in the pictures posted bellow it is possible that you have installed some mods that are not compatible with mine.
In this case do not hezitate to contact me and we will find a solution (you can have incompatibility with other mods even if the JGSME not reports conflicts when you enable this mod)

Nice work, Stoianm! That has been a problem with all the SH games, at least since SH3. When it is overcast the night should be pitch black, but when the stars are out it is much brighter, and the moon makes it brighter still.
Does your mod leave it coal black when overcast, or is that something still not possible withing the parameters of the game?

No - it does not.
But i made another mod who are doing almoust what you are asking - but can be done more improvements - the brighter is increase or decrease in variation of the lights comming from the stars (sun and moon) - i was able do make this work only in normal wheater - in fog i have wrong results - i must to play with fog sensors and maybe i will fix that for all wheater time someday:DL
Best regards!:salute:
You did it! Thanks :yeah:
I understand that it's not perfect/realistic mod, but the screenshots look great and it seems to be just the thing I was looking for! Will test it soon!

:haha::up:
The low-version seems right to me, thanks :DL! Now I can see something but it still feels quite realistic. One thing bothers me though, but it might not be because this mod. The thing is the radiating halo around the moon, it's kinda cool, but just way too heavy, almost like a sun... Hmm, you don't have it in your screenshots...:hmmm:
BTW, this mod seems to give me good luck, testing it, I happened to spot a great big unescorted convoy and sank three big ships! Almost like a fox in the chicken yard kind of action!:yeah:
No time to test, but only from the screenshots this looks great.

it is because of settings in the lights.cfg that you have in your stock files. my mod do not overwritte that. if you want i will take a look and i will tell you what sensor parameters you must to lower a bit to have the same results as in my screenshots:up:

Hey just some feedback for you ...
The medium and bright ones are great at night but they are almost blinding at high noon on a decent day.
I am in the midst of some repairs (just got jumped by the RAF and am repairing now). Will try the low version next.
It's a bit off topic but anyway...

I fiddled with lights.cfg file and changed couple of things back to the values of Env 5.0 mod. Some mod must had changed the values, it's weird because they were like ten times higher... But thanks for the help again stoainm! :DL
And that wasn't in anyway caused by your mod just to make sure to everyone!

I tried high setting and in the daytime it's really too bright :-?. I think that the low setting is good, at least for me. There could be even lower setting, just a slight chance.

You guys have this problem with to much bright in the day time because you have enabled the dark interior wich use an high value for LightShaftsWeight - i tested my mod and managed to make things work ok only with MO and ENV5. I will make the mod compatible with dark interior also.

Updated at version stoianm BrighterNights modv1
See post #1 for details:up:
Hi stoianm,
I've been downloading the updated version several times, but I'm constantly getting corrupt downloads. :wah: I only can extract 2 high version + the pics in Documents, the rest is garbled, and I would prefer middle or low, as the high version seems a bit too bright at broad daylight. The light clouds almost merge into a nearly white sky.
Could you pls look into this, maybe upload a corrected package, so I can test the other versions, too?:salute:
TIA

Hi I am using 7-zip when for decompresing files - never had problems with:
http://www.7-zip.org/ (http://www.7-zip.org/)
If you speak about this picture:
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l568/stoianm/daytimefog.jpg
it is normal because it is MEDIUM FOG DAY and i was looking in to the sun direction.
here is used the same high version of the mod but in NORMAL WEATHER:
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l568/stoianm/daytime.jpg
So do not worry in the high version the bright is NOT to high in day time:up:
Hi!
I got it working using Zipgenius. So it's not a corrupted file, propably just too long names for some programs. But I'm still having the same problem that I had yesterday, it's like the mod changes the overall brightness so days are more bright too. I can see this in the "Low version" too. I'm curious how did you get those nice screenies with High setting??? :hmmm: I'm using the Dark Interior compability mod. Will try couple of things now...

That is true that the mod change the overall brightness and you will have more brightness in day time also - but i fixed this from the lights.cfg In the pictures posted bellows i have used dark interior and my version mod compatible with it. If you guys have to much bright in day time maybe you use another mod that change the lights.cfg.
In case that you observe to much bright in day time using the stand allone high version of the mod i sugest to install the version compatible with dark interior mod even you not use this mod (seems you have installed another mod that has changed light.cfg)
In your case Rongel i have not a clue why you do not have the same image as i have in my pictures - if you installed the version compatible with dark interior means that we have the same lights.cfg also
Thanks pal,
Got everyrhing extracted correctly with 7-zip now.
Going to compare the various versions, which will suit my system best. My lights.cfg is from Environment 5.0 (not stock). I'll be back!:03:

Thanks for that info. It means I can probably save some time by not testing the compatible dark interior versions and focus on the regular ones only.:salute:
PS. Don't you ever sleep?:zzz: :haha:
