Hi, mates! I want to know the best option for the Catalyst Control Center for ATI graphics cards, and the options adopted in SH4 for the best results.

I have three installations of SH4: TMO/RSRDC, FOTRS and OM/OMEGU.

How works Catalyst with SH4? In SH3, I manage all graphics options from the CCC, but in SH4 there are the options in the game menu, and the options in Catalyst. I donīt see many differences when select diverse options in Catalyst. I set AF and AA to high level, but the lines and cables in the sim havenīt good definition. (as I have in my SH3).

Many thanks and best regards.

Currently I'm running:

Anti-aliasing = (wide tent) 8x (16 samples). It seems to look and perform best. Edge detect just seems to lag the system more than it's worth. It looks like crap TBH. Wide tent looks soft and lovely.
Adaptive anti aliasing = off
Anisotropic Filtering = off (SH4 has low texture compression. I don't notice any improvement having it on.
Mip Map detail = Quality

I run my game with full effects and a resolution of 1900x1200. Runs pretty smooth for a 4 year old system.

What Catalyst?
And what card?

Running 10.9 (almost as fast as 11.1a, but that version gives me an issue) on a 5970 with these settings:

AA 4X
CF EdgeDetect (this combination is actually as good as AA16x, but far smoother to run)
AF 16X
A.I. Standard (2 gpu)
MM Detail HQ
Vert. Sync ON
AA Mode SSAA
Triple Buffering OFF

Settings in Silent Hunter IV:
[Current]
DepthBufferEffects=1
Filters=1
Glare=1
UnderwaterDispMap=1
LightShafts=1
3DShipWakes=1
DetailedWaveRipples=1
UnitNormalMaps=1
ShipCausticsEffects=1
Ship3DDamage=2
CharacterDetail=1
ParticlesDetail=9
TerrainObjectsDensity=7
TerrainObjectsLODSize=7
GammaCorrection=50
VolumetricFog=1

Some reduced samples...

Many thanks, Jan and Audessy! My card is 5970, with 10.9 CCC.

@Jan: where is the cfg file with the graphics configuration? I want to reproduce your settings in my SH4, with your numeric levels.

Best regards

Thanks!

In my GFXSettings.cfg, only I have three files:

Maximum.
Minimum.
Medium.

But there isnīt the "Current".

I think is in other folder...

Best regards.

Thanks!

You'll have to look in your windows documents folder. If you haven't been using MultiSH, then default folder is named SH4.
