What to do on a Sunday night? Hum-dee-dum-dee-dum. Hmmm.... :hmmm:

*tappity tappity tappity*

I know! I'll start another boozehound thread! :D

Please rise for the National Anthem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpzqQst-Sg8&ob=av3el)...

So every few months I treat myself to a bottle of whiskey. Usually something on the cheap like Black Velvet. I don't like it straight unless it's Jack or Jimmy B.; those two particular brands possess the right flavor for the straight shot, and are for special occasions.

Anyway, most of the time I go cheap charlie and buy something to mix with the 'Velvet. For a time it was whiskey and Coke, then I switched over to making 7 and 7 type mixers with Sprite or 7-Up. After awhile though I noticed that I'd get headaches from having all that sugar to process, and now I'm using a sour mix. So far, so good... as long as I don't overdo it.

Before I go too much further with this I'd like the younger ones that might be reading the thread to take note of something:

The drinking I've done in the past, and even to some extent now, was and is habitual. After burning enough holes in my wallet and building countless beer can pyramids on my coffee table, I decided to control the urge to go out and buy another bottle. This is one of those things that can spin out of control very rapidly, and if you're not prepared to own up to your problems it can make mincemeat of your life in a real hurry. So, when you reach an appropriate drinking age please do be careful with it. A drink can go down pretty quickly, but it takes some years to pull out of a nosedive; or if you've already hit rock bottom, to crawl out of the smoking crater that was once a good life.

I learned that the hard way, and that's why I only drink when the time is right for it. I had to rein myself in before I ended up losing everything I care about.

/soapbox

That was very therapeutic. :)

So, my fellow boozehounds; what's your poison? :()1:

Red Label or Grant's these days. Usually Grant's tho, for some reason the liquor store almost never has Red Label. :nope:

I'm not quite old enough to drink yet, but my mom lets me make her (and have some of) the manhattans she drinks sometimes. my stepfather is just fine with me having a beer every now and then, and right now my preference is with Yuengling.
as for harder drinks, Gentleman jack straight (only a couple shots if at all) does the trick before I go out shoveling.

I would have guessed most around here preferred their Whiskeys "on the rocks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_submarine_S-363)"

An old haunt just came to mind... :o ...and thankfully I cannot remember the aftertaste :yep::

Vendor, you were at that incident? That's right, a great event not only in Sweden but in general this whole world, and it was pretty chaotic and anxious days, when the Russians tried several in quarrying attempted to pull the submarine from the ground, at the current situation had all fixed coastal guns (radar controlled) they were understaffed, and on one occasion when a Soviet cruiser, escorted came only a mile before the Swedish border, so it backed off when the cruiser, was able to notice that the Swedish quarters were locked sight of the cruiser, from a coastal units

I'm a poor student, who doesn't have money for booze :O: otherwise a good single malt scotch, Irish whiskey, or cognac is nice.

I drink my whiskey straight. No water, definitely no ice.
Occasionally I drink it in a mix, usually a "Godfather" (whiskey and Amaretto)

My favorite is Irish whiskey (hence the "e" I write in whiskey:O:), usually Paddy's.

EDIT:
I'm not quite old enough to drink yet,The US drinking age always amazes me. In the Netherlands it's 16 years for lightly alcoholic drinks (beer, wine etc.) and 18 years for liquors. Why the hell is the US age so high? And why the hell do you not simply ignore it and go drinking with friends who are of legal age? I know loads of people under 18 who drink liquors and smoke weed whenever they can. In fact probably more that do than that don't.

Carry over from Prohibition I believe, When all alcohol was banned. But most places check your ID at the door, and under age people can't even get in to most places after a certain time of day.

I drink scotch with a bit of water, as I understand that it is how the natives do it. Bourbon, however, is something I drink straight. I drink neither with ice.

I doubt that the US is behind the Netherlands in underage drinking. My friends and I rarely had trouble finding a party that was already stocked with beer.
