View Full Version : [Rel] Dornier Do 24 t_3 by "Alex§
Hi folks,
thanks to „Alex“, who made this wonderful model. I'm proud to present you the Dornier “Do 24 T-3” search plane.
The model and the skin was made by “Alex” (from GWX-Team). I've just embedded the model into a SH3-file-strucrture.
So all credits goes to "Alex”.

This mod is JSGME-ready. Just copy the last line of the “GermanNames.cfg” and “EnglishNames.cfg" into your files with the same name in the roster
“data/Air”.
Have fun.

Moin h.sie,
your are right. That's a problem of all added models of ships or air planes. You must change (if thay can do) the "Campaign_RND.mis", the "Campaign_SCR.mis" and/or the "AirBase*.cfg".
@Fubar2Niner:
Yeah, let's say "Thank you" to Alex

Excellent model. Need scripting in the campaign files, yes.
Or if we replace an actual model for this, appears in campaign?
Many thanks!

Hi Fitzcarraldo,
yes, it should be scripted in the "Campaign-files". As that plane has other names and identifier, it will not replace the other Do 24 (which is a good model too).

Would it be possible to make a Version who does?
I tried myself, just changing the names of the files, including the roster files but i got an ctd in museum:oops:. The old Do 24 could not win a "Blumentopf" against this sweety.

I've created a little .mis file with Alex's Do24 cruising around the Bay of Biscay.
Given their operational deployment from the lakes south of Bordeaux this is not too far from the realms of reality and it'll give you a little eye candy as you cruise out of the French ports. If anyone has info on the actual deployment of Do24 I'd be more than happy to script them in.
The file is on my MediaFire page.

@ you Chief and everyone else : Thank you all, guys, I'm glad to know you like it so much. :|\\
@ WB : Thanks a lot for making it part of some campaign files. :03:
This one was used mainly for reconnaissance and sea rescue, some 12000 people were rescued by Do24s during its career. This camouflage pattern is the South-Western France one as you stated, but it should appear also 1. in the Mediterranean operating around Sicily, 2. near Axis's harbours in the Black Sea, 3. in the Channel near Calais, and above all 4. in Norway, where it should also appear as a sea unit, moored at Trondheim and Bergen (don't know about Narvik) as this one operated from these harbours until the end of the war.
Yeah Fader Berg,

Aw, thanks a LOT for the compliment, Rob'.
And a BIG thank you to YOU for handling the modding. Without your good will :know:, this flying-boat would not have seen the light of day in game I'm afraid.

It's an awesome aircraft model and people deserve to see it and enjoy it.
I'll add those other locations and revise the .mis file then send out an updated version of the mod. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend but I've got another six ships that I'm scripting at the moment so I may have to bump it up the pile.

Hi WB,
could you do something equal with the great BV138 and/or with the nice Ju 52 Mausi? Last one would be very nice along every german Port, searching for magnetic Mines.
Thanks in forward and best regards.:salute:

Hi, Wreford: Is the mis file a campaign file for GWX? And for the merged campaign?
Great job! Many thanks!

I've written the .mis file but you need to merge it with your current campaign. There are detailed instructions in the Readme.

Hi Wreford-Brown,
thanks for helping user of Alex/my MOD. Nothing to say against it – great job. IIRC: you've got a new address? Herford means British Rhine Army? Or am I wrong? Otherwise beat me – I don't know why someone goes to Herford.
To all others:
there is a Do 24 by “VAA” That plane was made in the “early days of SH3”. Made by a great modder! So if I would have used the same names (of files, labels, chunks and so on), the MOD of Alex/myself would have overwritten the original files (and labels, chunks and so on) that were done by “VAA”. And that would be unfair.
Yes, I'm using the “Do 24 T-3” in the same way “Wreford-Brown” does it for you. That's no problem. That is a correctly individual adaptation of a MOD. But I must say: I could not have done it. Within the MOD of “Do 24 T-3”.
I've just learned the lesson with an other MOD: that was the transformation of “AOTD_MadMax” Whale-Chasing-Ships. Good ships – of course. But the name of the “Factory Ship” was NCVW – and this name was used by AG124, who made one of the first new (cloned) ships for SH3. That I recognised.
The “WhaleChaser” as a small boat – I did not recognised that a similar boat with the same name was done/made by “Trainer1942 aka Nautilus” (light-years ago). So I’m sorry for overwriting an existing name.
It is difficult to know all MODS – but I’ll try my best. I'm sorry for that mistake – with “Trainer1942” WhaleChaser.
Greetings
