Cat on a Type VII

I work for a cat shelter and I think I have an idea that could be a Youtube hit among submarine/metal/cat fans that could promote our shelter.

I want to model a tuxedo cat as the captain of a Type VII Uboat and make a Silent Hunter film of the sub attacking a convoy to the tune of a popular metal song.

How feasible is this in Silent Hunter V? Ideally, I would like to portray the cat on the bridge during a night surface attack. I have experience in 3D modelling packages, but I've never modded a game before.

What would be the ideal software packages to use?
