Background : OK I am one of those players who is kind of semi serious. Just to let you know. lol but I'm not a 'casual player' ( have been playing SH series since SH2 ) and I know my WW2 history quite well BUT.... Im dont have time to get really Geeky about SH5 even though I would LOVE to.... lol
I logged back on to SH5 after leaving it gathering dust on my shelf for 3 or 4 months hoping it will improve..... and it really HAS. The Radio messages make a HUGE difference. Makes you feel like you are in touch with the war and that BDU is real. Love it!
Suggestion: if you go into accelerated time, you will find yourself getting loads and loads and loads of radio messages at the moment (which is great.)
but
1) is there a way to highlight the messages that are important for YOU and your boat ? like if the sighted Convoy is in YOUR current area of operations? so you can see that this radio message is different from the hundreds of others that you recieve during your patrol and you really should take special notice of it? Maybe even just making that message appear in a different colour (in red for example?) something to draw your special attention to it?
Secondary stupid Noob question:
2) ( forgive me! ) the radio messages at the moment give you a co-ordinate like Convoy sighted at AE46, 67. I know how to find lond and latitude (obviously) but the letters confuse me since I look at my navigation map.... and I cant find out where grid square or grid area AE is.. All I have is the londitude and latitude numbers on my map? is it possible to select something or check some box to show the letters on my nav map too?
I tried to deactivate the spam-radiomessages by editing TDW useroptions.py:
# when stalking or approaching a ship this is the range at which the possibility exists that the ship could spot the sub and send a radio report about it
# below is in meters
RangeShipSendingSubSightedMessage = 0 <---- It was 8000 before
Unfortunately it only seems to affect the ships that can see me. All the other ships are still spamming away :nope:.

I get tons of messages naming ships (Allied) and giving coordinates. I haven't reached those areas yet, but wonder why those ships would give position in plain language.
The messages don't say ship or convoy sighted, just the ship name and a position.

I'm going to make a change to the radio messages UI. I'm going to add checkmarks that will let you select which types of messages you want to receive. You are the captain after all and you decide what's important and what's not

It is possible to give this mod separately? It would be wonderful
Or in the future will this radio messages mod always be a part of your UI mod?

Do you have patch 2 installed for MO? Patch 2 included the radio messages feature.

Tha last icon on the bottom of right side of your screen (it is looking like a newspaper pages) - if you move the mouse on it an clik it will display the radio messages (here you can read your radio mesages - when you will have new messages the icon will becom flikering).

By the way, do you know that if i raise the range where a crew man can see to update the cource (in the useroption.py) the reported contact that i received after will include the real cource (for example convoy spoted at lat and long, speed 10 knots, cource 212 - before changed was: convoy spoted... cource SWS) - and when i look at a ship with my periscope i will have displeyed on nav map and tai the cource at the ship?:o

First of all i supose you have magnum opus mode and patch2 also instaled.
So if you are doing what i explained to you at post #9 then you must to have opened (expanded - ouvert) the ''radio messages box''. Here you can chose what types of mesages you will receive and if you want ot receive radio message in the ''radio message box''.
To understand, easy, go at this link: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093&page=7 and read post#6065.
You will have there a picture with the ''radio message box'' and you will see how you can chose what kind of radio messages you want in your game to be displayed.
Good luck!
