I've spent several days just getting it right.
So here it is!

If you have the Oar colors fix?
Get rid of it as it is included with this mod.

Files changed:
Secondary.dat
Lifeboat_Sailors.dat
And most all files in NLifeboat_02

Software used:
3DS Max 2008 - 3D model work and UV mapping
SoftImage 2010 - AO burning
S3D - of course!
XVI32 Hex Editor - adjusting what S3D could not
Njob (a great tool for creating the N0? textures)
Gimp 2.6.11 - Texture work and inverting the N0? texture

I'll be updateing this Unit along with the other liferaft soon.
More guys on board, gear and stuff so it does not look so empty.
Webster's Real Lifeboat fix will be rolled in also.
The only thing needing changed in his sim is the draught.
That's due to the different size of the Stock compared to new model.

This mod should be compatible with all major and minor Mods.
As Webster told me,
We seem to be the only ones messing with Life boats.

I'm also messing with zoneing them for the potental War Criminals amongst us.

I don't believe the Hard Code will allow that.
I did add an A01 node and gave it a Gun.
Even when I fired on it? It just Rowed along never even aiming at me.

have you thought about retexturing a small gunboat to look like a lifeboat?

it would be set up to fire on things so it might be easier to equipt it the way you want and the texture could make it look like a lifeboat.

just something to ponder :hmmm:

great work, but to me that degree of water transparency looks badly wrong. I have been on boats before. Can something be done about that?

(In the K-Ship We have a Guy with bino's in the lookout position.
He does look and point at enemy Units.)

It's kind of a preview of some stuff several people and I are doing right now.
We do have a certain Goal that most have ignored.
I'm sure you, and many others, will agree with the Goal once we're far enuff along to post more information.

The Liferaft really does look good. I had to rush out and sink a few big boats just to see it bouncing around.:up:

The lookouts randomly pointing when there is nothing there always makes me look that way. Then I get PO'd that the lookout is doing that.:-?

The lookout should only point at something on a trigger of "Smoke on the Horizon", "Aircraft Spotted" or "Ship Spotted".:hmmm:

I hope that this is something we may be able to correct in the future?:06:

I've never played enuff to test what the lookouts do when a Ship is sunk and a LB is around.
Do the lookouts spot them?

Very nice. Very detailed.

I take it they are destructable?

I tried to make a training mission, using lifeboats, bunkers and a landing craft for gunnery practice. It didn't work of course. Any chance of having a target barge, perhaps towed by a tug or something?

The details are in the textures actually.
It is a bit higher in 3D model work sure.
But you really don't see them that often.
I also see I can cut faces now that I viewed it in Game.

As for different Units?
It can be done if you can give an example.

while you are working on this, maybe you would be willing to try to fix a spawning bug from sinking ships?

lots of cargo ships spawn lifeboats and no debris / boxes and many warships spawn debris / boxes and no lifeboats


IMO it would probably be too much work to go ship by ship and check all this but if you were willing to have a look at it, maybe just have ALL ships spawn just lifeboats since i doubt many cargo crates would or should be floating around anyways.

it really looks stupid to sink a carrier and see just cargo crates floting and no lifeboats
