I've been looking and comparing skins to some photos off of uboataces.com and uboats.net and I've noticed little small details like in the port and starboard side bow of most of our skins have 24 holes(the top ones not total)even the stock sh3 skins. if you count them on the real pics there are 25 and the one that's all by itself closest to the deck is actually set back by one hole. in the real photos it sits over the 10th hole counting from back to front. understanding that there were various mods that every type 7b-c(designs and different shipyards) went through just thought I'd throw that out there. i mean with all these amazing stunning skins you all make and I'm a big fan of, who would notice or even miss a hole here and there right. I'm not gripping or anything just wanted to know if anyone else noticed this. I'm still working on stock skins trying to learn how to mod skins and that's all i find my self doing is comparing all your skins and real pics to get ideas and authentic uboat colors and such.I'm small time compared to most of all your beautiful skins. But I'm also still learning how to use GIMP and other programs. if anyone has any better programs out there for modding skins let me know. any info would be great. :salute:

go to http://www.uboataces.com/history-gallery.shtml to see the photos of the type 7s. i also found one on there that has 29 holes in the bow. there are 40 total in the bow in most of the pics.

I'm sure people have noticed. There were many variations in the Free Flooding Vent patterns of German Submarines.

If you are looking into creating skins for SH3 these documents may help:

VIIc_Flood_Patterns-DM.pdf (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?p50eehbgue6d073)

VII_Modifications-DM.pdf (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ctl23sclq81todg)

U-boat_Colors-DM.pdf (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?l8n7teo82a4qkto)

They are included in the larger The Wolf Pack: A Collection Of U-Boat Modelling Articles (http://www.rokket.biz/models/modelsweb/rokket/u557/paint.shtml) which you may wish to download instead.

I have found that a great source of information for accuracy, details, and colors are model makers, since they are sticklers for that sort of thing.
For U-Boats in particular, do a search for "Dougie Martindale" who seems to be a notable expert on these matters.

aahhhh very nice indeed. thank you. the one link is bad VII
VIIc and uboat colors were fine the and the wolfpack modeling one too. thank you very much. also i've come to ponder the uboots in the game as far as length.the type7b was shorter than the type7c so what a do is put more authintic withe the 7c because it makes it look longer. i think maybe the reason they did do the skins that way were to be easier to use one skin versus 10 other or individual skin for each uboat. its all good though. they make for a good testing ground. but again thak you. i dont know if i will ever upload one but i'm learning.:salute:

well im almost finished with it atleast the 7b I am. I used the refrences as much as possible. they both,7b and c, are just stock sh3 skins but just touched up. so they look the same here and there. the 7c skin really shows changes. I did my best to make the stock skins look diffrent from one another. makes no sense to me to upgrade from a B to a C and they look the same. although there are way better skins to choose from ill see about finishing the 7c and upload both of them at a later date. thanks guys.

Ok, further dealing and diving in the skins. it will take me longer now. basically what I'm doing is trying to take the stock skins and just enhance them. the type 7b skin i based on most of the photos in the references. so most of the free flowing vents and exhaust ports are as correct as i can get them. the paint color is dunkelgrau 51 which doing more research if its correct that is the paint that was mostly applied to the type 7s in the early part of the war. i figured out its painful to do the skins because of all the rivets and the small details like scrapes and bumps and holes etc. but its going well. how do i upload them to this site or will i have to get an account with Gamefront? the 7c is coming along very well. both skins are based on the early part because i figured most people would start a new career or at least before 42-43. i gave myself a break for now plus im between moving to a new house.:salute:
