View Full Version : Game crashes when near custom base

I have created new locations for Shanghai and Tianjin in China, Tokyo Japan, a secret base in Antarctica, and a base near Tortuga Haiti. Everything shows up nicely in the game. I added German naval bases with the same name as the locations using the Mission editor.

So, I started a new career with the modified campaign files. I sink nine ships on the patrol and decide to check out the base in Haiti. After traveling some 7000 km I am within 400km of the base.

The game crashes each time I get any closer to the new custom base. Repeatedly. I had to use existing harbor files in the locations.cfg file such as large harbor type III, bergen and kiel.

Any suggestions?

The problem seemed to be my choice of harbor locations I used for the hidout base near Tortuga. I chose Djakarta for the size and shape of the docks. I had added the naval base through ME.

It would seem that the choice of harbor locations used for bases must be a location with .dsd files associated with it. There are .dat and .tga files associated with all harbors.

As a test I went to the Antarctic base "Atlantis" which uses the Kiel harbor location files. Worked great!

When looking around I also noticed there is a jungle_city location. I would really like the base in Tortuga or a Pacific Island base to use the jungle city buildings instead of the industry buildings. I'll save that for a rainy day.


Nope. Still crashes when approaching Tortuga base < 200km
