Hello!
In response to a request for Leander Class ships, I wrote a few weeks ago that I work on the Arethusa Class light cruisers. The model is finally complete and has been sucessfully tested.
So, I can now, after years of enjoying other people efforts, offer my first humble contribution.

Please, read the documentation file first, for installation hints. Also, take a look at the credits. Without the previous work of and the support by other people, I would have never been able to assemble the model.
Have fun -- the Frog

P.S. A small wish for the future!
Do not make more large ships them so much.
A better pay attention to small.
Such as minesweeper!
In a game they practically do not!
For example Fleet minesweeper HMCS Guysborough (J 52) (Canadian).
Thank you.:salute:

Nice looking unit!
The package is not quite JoneSoft Mod Enabler ready though. The data folder that the Library, Roster, and Sea folders go into has been omitted.

Great work! :DL So many cruisers still need to be made for the later SH series games. One of the few things I miss about SH2 was that modders had created nearly every WWII cruiser class for it.

Hello!
First, thanks for the kind words !!
@ all of you who ask for smaller or other kind of ships:
Well, as everybody I have preferences. My favourites are the British cruisers that evolved from the Leander Class. So, expect sooner or later the Bellona and Perth Classes ... but please be patient, it takes some time to set up new ships
@ HW3:
Oh, right ... while zipping, the data folder went overboard ... file updated. Thanks for letting me know.
@ BUKER:
Awesome environment ... the ship looks so much better than on my screen ...
@ iambecomelife:
The moment I decided to start working on the ship was when you cancelled the Sydney project -- those screens are still on my hard drive.

Unfortunately, the data for my version of the ship was corrupted & it could not be released. I really wanted to have it out to coincide with the wreck discovery a while back, but it was not to be.
Anyway, great job - better late than never!

thank you very much for this model Frog !!
it is very nice but check the ship's reflections on water ....they are displaced .
ps: Arethusa is the original name of model ? if yes....it is surprising to see greek names on english ships.

Hello makman94:
The British have a long tradition of naming ships according to mythological characters. Examples are those in the Leander, Arethusa and Dido Classes, but there many more. So, because of the rich mytholoy, Greek names are pretty common to Royal Navy ships. Just check the English Wikipedia; try HMS Arethusa ...

Mythical Greek names were very popular with English shipbuilders, going back to the sailing-ship era. Names have included:
Achates
Achilles
Actaeon
Aeneas
Aeolus
Agamemnon
Amphion
Amphitrite
Anacreon
Andromache
Andromeda
Aphrodite
Apollo
Aquilon
Arachne
Arethusa
Argo
Ariadne
Arromanches
Astraea
Atalanta
Athene
And those are just the 'A's!

Back in the First World War, for a while both Germany and Great Britain had a light cruiser named Ariadne in commission at the same time. It's probably just as well they never met in a battle.

here you are Frog ,
the displaced reflections in s3d (also check the 223 node--SHD-NCL-ARETHUSA seems also displaced...but don't know if this is important, better ask the experts):

Hi the_frog,
just set the X-, Y- and Z-values of the "reflect_NCL_Arethusa" to 0,0 and the reflections of the hull will be correct. Ubi made individual reflection objects (less polygon than the main object) and they are sometimes not centered. So they adjusted them by changing the X-, Y- and Z-values of this objekt. Stupid method, but Ubisoft often did so.

@makman94:
Thanks! You have an eye for details! :yeah:
By the way, the error roots back to the original SH3 Dido model, which contains numerous "misplaced" shaddow and reflection models (see rowi58's comment). It has not been addressed before so far. So, GWX, LSH, WAC use Didos with the reflection not centred.
@rowi58:
Thanks, too. Done as suggested. Reflection / shaddow models now all at 0,0,0 positions and without rotation.
In addition, reflections of gun mounts corrected; frustum test was not enabled.
... new version of the model uploaded ...

Great work the_frog, installing her now. Also got the Walrus seaplane by Testpilot1978 to go with it. If anyone wants it you can find it at http://www.filefront.com/17187647/Walrus-by-TP.7z/ Many thanks, Sven.
Long awaited modification andmuch more accurate than recent Leander class. For my liking models of light cruisers would be much more accurate if were converted correspondenly from HMS Dido -> HMS Arethusa - > HMS Perth and only then to HMS Leander. Really hope and looking forward for HMAS Perth next!

Hunter, I do my very best.
By the way, not so long ago, Herr Hunter suggested the Dido -> Arethusa -> Perth pathway in the German Ubiforum ... I simply followed the idea ... :salute:
Actually, Herr Hunter at German forums is me :D and the idia is taken from real life were all thoses series of British CL grew from each other.

Hunter, I already guessed on your 2nd identity :DL
Yes, the British shipbuilders had a nice sense for evolution ...
And now, we are doing kind of reverse evolution -- which is fun
