I've been attempting to make a custom side emblem. All I know is that it should be a tga file... any more pointers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is the menu music in GWX 3.0 Gold stock SH3 or is it an addition? If it is an addition, what is the source?

If you are not already doing so, I would start by copying one of the existing game emblem .tga files to another location on your hard drive, then opening it with your graphics editor of choice.

Then play around with it, save it with a new name, and copy it to the appropriate folder in your game install and see what happens.

I use the Turms Your Way mods to do custom emblems, and it doesn't work with any of the existing .tga files - once it's enabled you have to use the ones you create with its templates - but I used one of the stock emblems as a starting point and incorporated it into a larger design with good results.

In addition to the above sound advice ensure your tga is 'square' in dimention eg 64 x 64 or 128 x 128 etc.

The music in GWX3.0 is called 'Hanging' and 'Escape' by Craig Armstrong from the movie Plunkett and Macleane.

You can get the tracks from my gramaohone tracks collection (available from my FF account-link above my sig).

I'm sorry, there are 11 IIRC and cannot remember which one they are in but it is not the first and is nearer the beginning than one at the end.

Here is the thread on Privateer's Turms Your Way mods - currently they are only available for Types VIIB and VIIC.

I'm not positive but I think this pack that TarJak put together has everything, mods for both types plus a bunch of historic emblems that he did that will work with them:

If not the actual mods can also be found at Subsim Downloads or Jimbuna's Filefront page here:

Here's my current 'custom' turm, with the 2 Flotilla emblem on the front and personal emblem on the side:

Both packs (VIIB and VIIC) are on my FF site but I'd recommend the combined version (again on my FF site) http://www.filefront.com/16377567/Historic_Turm_Pack_v1.7z/

Yup, that's the one I linked to at the Downloads section here... I was pretty sure it was the combo pack that had everything in it. :DL

(And this time I remembered that there was a combo pack!)

:hmmm:
I could have sworn the Type IX Turms were done.
Maybe I never released them.

I found a WIP thread from earlier this year where you said you were sending them to TarJak, I guess to work his historic emblems into the mix. I don't remember anything since then, but then I've not played with a IX so I might've missed it entirely. If so - my bad! :DL

File dates on the Type IXC 1 Turm say it was done.
:hmmm:
that's in the Game folders anyway.
I keep the modded files elsewhere so there may be others done,
or nearly done.

I know I still have the Type IIA Turm nearly ready.
The 3D parts are done but it refuses to work properly in Game.
:nope:

Alright, I've tried a new emblem. I just forgot to take a screenshot of it as a real test... because my prior attempts have resulted in screenies being completely black.

I hope the type IXB turms get done soon. I really want to pimp out my boat.

The Type IXB uses the IXC 1 Turm.
