need help with playable battleship

I would like to try a playble battleship in a career or single mission.

First, how hard is it to insert the battleship in the game? How do you do it? (short version please.)

I do not care if it a Japanese or American BB, but I am playing with an American sub in my career.

Most of the links to playable BBs are down. What is a good one?

If activate via JGSME will the BB replace the sub in a career?

Enable a ship with JSGME and yes to replace any files. Most playable ship mods only adds a ship to the career, not replacing subs. As for list of ships, here`s my FF page if you want some ships.

If you just add a ship to the career scenario, but it does not replace the sub, what is the point? You might never see the added ship in the career. I want to fire a BB's big guns. How can I do that? BTW, Which of your ships on you site are WW2 vessels?

You can choose to play as a BB in career mode. It will still be a sub on the inside but in specs and most respects a battleship, with guns and armor. So far I have the G3 class battlecruiser, N3 class battleship, HMS Hood and refit, H-39 class battleship, O class battlecruiser, P class panzerschiffe, Montana class battleship, South Dakota class battleship and Lexington class battlecruiser. All playable in career mode.

I loaded the Montana via JGSME. I started a new career in 1941. Sitting in port was me in my sub. There was no Montana, even via camera view.
Why don't you surprise me, and tell me exactly what to do to activate a Montana in lieu of my sub?

there seems to be a conflict that may have overwritten the BB

I'm guessing you enabled the Montana on top of all of that?
it should be the last thing you enable and I'm sure you know that.

as far as I can tell though there's nothing that should be getting in the way of a playable BB, have you tried any others?

You should not use the Montana with TMO. This could be the reason for your problems.
