Hi Kaleuns,
I have been working for quite a time to convert Tomi's torpedo room for the Type II to SH3. I also added some objects and more are to come.
The whole project is now in open beta state, and I would appreciate feedback from the huge community of Subsim.

Nearly eight months after the start of this project, Version 1.0 now is ready for release. The mod adds a torpedo room to the interior of the type II boat. A couple of objects in the command room are changed or completed, too. Also the mod is JSGME-compatible, please read the readme file, especially players that do NOT use LSH and OLC GUI will probably face problems otherwise. Torpedo room Type II 1.0 is compatible to stock SH3, Lsh, GWX and WAC (probably to any super mod, if installed as described in the Readme.txt).

Try the MOD with GWX, he is completely JSGME-ready (just one file). Would actually work. If not, simply disable via JSGME !

I can't really tell if the mod will work with GWX in the current version, but I think there is a chance because only the inderiour.dat - file is changed. As Magic says, it's worth a try, in worst case you will have to deactivate it again.

I've just installed this mod on a GWX installation and it works great! The lighting is a bit too bright IMO, but the model looks really nice! Thanks MCHALO12!
BTW, are we supposed to see crew members in the torpedo room like in this picture form the German forum? They didn't show up when I installed it.

Great news that the mod is also working with GWX.
@ NewCaptain: As Alex said, crew is one thing that will be included in version 1.0. So will be working lights in the Torpedo room an a changed camera position in command room.
@ privateer: I did not try it until now as there were more urgent problems to solve, but I will try to include it. I hope you will help me again when the time has come :)
Tomi already ensured me, that he will send me his engine room when finished. So look forward to the complete type II interiour guys!
Could anybody tell me how to change the name of the thread? I only managed to change the heading in the first post, but not in the thread overview.

Yes, because all Type II Subs use the same Interior (...data\Interior\NSS_Uboat2)

Hi Kaleuns,
some news from the Torpedo room: I added the missing helmsman, in order to make this possible, the LI had to be moved. The interiour now has a very narrow feeling in the command room. Work is going on.

Very nice. Some questions:
1. Did the Type II actually have a wheel for the helmsman? I ask because the later boats had small levers to actuate the rudders, rather than a wheel.
2. Will we ever see an engine room to go with it?
3. Will there ever be an SH4 version?
4. Is this version with the helmsman updated on the first page? If not, where can we download it?

The pictures look great. I especially love how the boat feels more alive with the extra crew members visible in the torpedo room. (I am hoping one day we'll see something similar to this with FM Interior for VII...some extra idle crew members hanging around off-shift sleeping or playing cards)
My only criticism is the lighting in the torpedo room looks very harsh, as if there's a studio production light somewhere in there that we can't see. I'd tone down and soften the light quite a bit, making the light from the illuminated bulbs do the work. With a u-boat interior, I'd err on the darker side rather than the lighter.

Vesikko has a wheel but it is loacated port side front of navigator's desk.
Later models are a mystery. Not very much interior pictures of type IIs.
Quess it wasn't media sexy enough for Döniz's propaganda troops to board.

2. Yes, the engine room will be included when Tomi_99 finished modelling it for SH4.
3. This interiour is mainly converted from Tomi_99's SH4 version, with some additions like the helmsman done by me. So for SH4, the original version of Tomi can be used when it's finished.
4. No, the version of the first page still is the Beta. The new crew members will be included in version 1.0 which hopefully will be released soon :)

Yes of course, those crew members can be added to any type of submarine. And as you can see in this screenshot, more are to come in the torpedo room:

Important: All added crew members will be static objects without animation in Version 1.0! Creating animation, especially of human bodies is quite difficult, but the goal definitely is to have animations in later versions!

great that you like the torpedo room. But keep in mind that the torpedo room was modelled by Tomi_99 for SH4, I only converted it to SH3 and put in a few new object like the crew and a few things in the command room. So do not forget to thank Tomi as he has done the major part of the work! :)
I hope I will be able to also convert the engine room in near future, so you could walk through the whole type II. Besides I'm going to modell the battery room beneath the floor plates of the torpedo room for those that really want to explore every corner of the boat! :)

Downloaded this and it's AWESOME!
Question: should the .dat file size be 275MB?
I did some digging and deleted redundant textures on the file I downloaded and now it's more like... 178MB. I'm not that awesome (yet) but I noticed that the stock CR is between 25-48MB, and has more pipes, etc. Is there a way to reduce this load further for people on really slow machines?

It takes a good while to load on my system (even reduced), but it's worth every second! I love looking into the TR while I'm at the hydrophone station!
edit: I'm trying to get my work on the type II conning tower released... *facepalm* and I can tell you how to incorporate this into that...
Downloaded it, installed it on GWX 3 and it crashed. Needless to say, the game was running before this mod without problems.
