Hello,

I posted the following message at the main SH4 forum, but since I didn't get any replies to my questions and given that the subject is essentialy about mods for the program I thus thought it would be more appropriate to re-post the message here.

I purchased SH4 a few years after it debuted. I had read the SH4 manual, but had a hard time getting the deck gun to run with one of the mods, so I admittedly lost interest in the game. Since I last played SH4, I have been lurking on the forums and have noticed that modelers have created several wonderful looking ships. I am much more of a ship guy. Can someone please tell me what the career is like with the playable ships? What activities do you participate in as a captain of a ship?

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Walter

Essentially you are just a submarine captain....with a sub that doesn't dive but has a lot more guns and armor....uniquely disguised as a battleship.
you are still ordered to patrol an area for such amount of time. and sinking merchants is a blast.

if you detect a convoy you can just walk through it, guns-a-blazing.

I recommend it.

Ya sledgehammers right the surface mods are awsome! I've been playing silent hunter games for years and its a lot of fun to change it up and use surface ships, plus when you go in with guns lighting up the sky its so awsome!! :yeah:

There is a very nice Admiral Scheer mod for Op Monsun that is marvelous...he is a wonderful ship and very well made. You may enjoy this very much.
