implement the possibility of crew death? or even officer death?

It would make you feel more protective about your crew. I know that thanks to TDW we CAN now have injured people officers.

Also --- dont you miss the old SH3 crew managment system too ? maybe Im the only one.... moving people off and on watch shifts? Their energy going down? etc..

As ever would appreciate your thoughts!

Even the most desperate situations do not lead to the death of someone either from the crew, never!. High - injuries not heal until the end of the patrol. In my opinion it is bad for realism. With this need to do something.

Nope, that is if not the worst part, but at least one of the worst parts of SH3. A crew unable to stay on watch duty for 4 hours? Historically, engine-personnel had 6 hours watch shift.
Oh, and the shifts are defined before a patrol. Its not like the captain saying everyone when to go to bed and when to use which room etc.

the problem is not so much to have crewmembers get " killed " (allthough it would be very hard to do) But the real problem is that the officer or crewmember that would be killed would come back from the dead in the next patrol. Also since you cant put crew members in dead crew-members slot to replace him (like in sh-3/4) , the functions he performed are lost .
Also sh-5 doesnt have a big crew selection database like sh-3/4 had . In fact its limited to just your crew . So thats where the real problem lies. If someone could come up with a random crew database with some random faces and abilaty,s to replace dead crew members you are half way . But still then you would need to remake the crew management like we had in sh3/4 which i think would be very hard to do as well since it would require them to half different dialogs or let them all keep the original dialogs from sh-5. So basicly to make a long story short , having dead crew members would mean you have to have the sh4/5 style crew management. I ve been hoping someone could look into this but i think its way to difficult if not impossible , but never say never.

How is that bad over the fact that in sh-5 your crew can stay on watch indefinitly . I,de rather have sh-3 crew management and having crew to stand watch for a max of 4 hours then a crew addicted to amphetamines for the whole patrol.

Usually, the crew was on watch indefinitly. Just the faces changed. So, if changing the faces based on daytime can be done in SH5, it would be a better crew management system than the SH-series ever had. If then people can be killed and not return on next patrol, now that sounds like a well thought design.

I'm sure the modding community could make an outside program to change the facial features on existing crew, so they look different. It has been done, but the changes are permanent. We need a random change or time-based change.

I'd like to see those lazy bums in the bunks get up when we go to action stations, or at least disappear.

I don't want a return to SH3 micro-management, but I don't like the SH5 morale system either. Perhaps a melding of the two, like long-term fatigue on extended patrols that brings morale down.

I also hate when a crew member tells the captain "I can't do that" and the order was a standard thing!

Yeah I agree completely. It MUST be possible. It would be a major , major improvement to be able to select replacement crew members with different faces and beards and hair and eye colour etc. Hard im sure. But worth it for SURE as well.

The thing is that every time someone comes around and wants a mod like this .
But nobody ever actually works on is so then again it is forgotten again.
I think at the moment its just to hard.

I looked in the animations file and the dead animations are there . Scripting it in and that person not being available again after a patrol needs fixing .

I've already scripted it in for dead crew in my UIs mod. Problem is the game never lets them die. They can get really really low in health but it will never take them to 0

Actually a much better idea would be that the death animation would become a seriously wounded animation . I notice in CrewMembers that there is an efficiency reduction of 1 and a certain amount of hours to recover .
