I'm in my first campaign, threading my way through the English Channel when I remember SHIII and the mines.
I did a search but found no reference here about SH5 and mines.
Does anybody have information (experience or fact) about them in stock or modded game?
Being in Canada, we were only able to get the minimal package (tiny useless manual) and so I depend upon the European kaleuns who got the big book.
I'm wondering if I should head North for a trip around Scotland instead.

I run the English Channel a lot and have yet to see mines (there's lots of destroyer patrols, but no mines). I don't think they're in the stock game, but I'm only on the first mission set, so they might show up later in the war I just don't know. So if you're still on Total Germany you'll be fine, just watch out for the patrols in the Dover Straight.

Thanks.
So far so good. I've slipped past Calais. I had my sonar guy use his 'detect hidden enemies' ability. Then I set depth 20, speed 4 with a full battery and set course to pass on the French side. Most of the destroyers are on the Brit side.

No, mines are not implemented in game. We(the modders) have tried to get them to work but have been unsuccessful so far.

i'm sure we can create our own subnets and mines if
they are not hardcoded anymore and spawn them
in an unusual way.

This is something that I will look at in my campaign mod in later versions, as long as I can figure out the current complications that I am experiencing.

Basically all the files for the mines, and the nets are still there. They are just not implemented. I am pretty sure that several people have tried to use the subnets as a terrain entity, but the terrain editor simply won't take it. I have no idea why not, as it is a simple .dat file.
Also, I think it is possible to add the mines as a unit. But when you hit them the game crashes.
Perhaps the .zon for the mines is not setup correctly for SH5?
Edit: This is just what I remember from when some guys tried to get it to work a while back, I could be remembering wrong. Either way, I think we should take another look at it.

Yes all the files are there for bothe the mines and subnets. The problem is we can not add them to the campaign or single missions due to them not being in the Library for the Mission Editor.
I have got them to show up in the menu Editor but when you try to place them as a unit it causes the Mission Editor to display the following Error:
platform AntiSubNet not found in platforms library!!!
This is also the same error I encountered while working on my Ship Reskin Mod while trying to create new ship types from a stock model.
The New ship type was not present in the library when opening the Editor.
How one adds new objects to the Lidrary, that I don't know, but this may hold the solution to Mines and Subnets. :hmmm:

Its amazing how much stuff is their but not implemented. I think its great news for the modders and i guess this is why the developers left them their. This gets me excited about what the modders can deliver with it and I appreciate all their efforts.
