Britain could import the ‘insurgency’ tactics of the ‘Tea Party’ movement where government attempts to impose higher taxes have led to mass protests and threatened to derail conventional politics.
The UK-based Taxpayers Alliance held talks with the FreedomWorks movement at a conference for right wing campaign groups in London.

A new wave of ‘Tea Party’ protests, named after the uprising against the British state’s imposition of tax on tea imports to America in 1773

So it would be a conservative group together with a conservative group each filled with conservative politicians and conservative party members protesting against errrr.....the conservative government and conservative party they belong to.

Naah, and if it does it's hardly going to be as vocal and thread derailing as the US version.

Yeah, but that was before mass mass-media and the death of the intelligence of the general public.
It would be good to have protests on that scale again (although I do pity the poor coppers stuck in the middle of it) but even then...would the government listen? Would it heck as like!
Nope, we're stuck with it unfortunately.

Like any elected officials if enough protest is raised and they risk losing power then they listen.

I dunno Tarjak, I'd like to believe that's true...but things just aren't as united in the United Kingdom as they used to be. Maybe I'll be surprised, who knows, but even the Mayday parades are quiet affairs these days, probably because of the extremely heavy police presence.

Oh, when we get going there's not much to stop us....

It's just getting us going. I think a lot of people are angry...but not angry enough to risk being labeled a terrorist or put on a criminal records list.

Aye maybe that is the difference between 2010 and 1990. In 1990 anarchy was still alive and well in the UK. In 2010 it gets picked up by MI6 and disappears or labelled terrorism.:damn:

But freedom works and the tax alliance are the very people who would be in favour of that poll tax the rest of the country went mad against

I agree. I dream of a chance to vote FOR a candidate rather than vote AGAINST a candidate.

And you have changed your style for Rep, or !'ts time for take break

No I'm still a registered Democrat but all that means is that I can vote in Democratic Primaries. Some states you can vote in any party's primary or caucus some can't (NY is one).

Which I see as a good thing, means I can vote to nominate Democratic candidates that I like in a mostly Democrat state.

Although for this years special election for senate I'm leaning Rep because I feel one of their candidates is more middle of the road than the Dems.

I agree. I dream of a chance to vote FOR a candidate rather than vote AGAINST a candidate.

One of these days... one of these daysMe too. I voted for Eric Massa and was glad he was reelected. To bad he was forced to resign- partly due to his salty sea talk...

"There is no doubt in my mind that I did in fact, use language in the privacy of my own home and in my inner office that, after 24 years in the navy, might make a Chief Petty Officer feel uncomfortable."

... that makes me like him more!

So Brits are lazy, about themselves and their government.

The sad fact is most rather sit on there ass and bitch on which saves them time in writing to there Member of Parliament or even seeing them.

From the horses mouth my MP...

"If more people wrote in and wanted change then the government would have to do something."

What that means is the government of the day be that labour or conservatives or even what we have now a coalition of the conservatives with the liberals will do sweet sod all until the lazy people of this country get off there fat asses, and that day will never come. :nope:

If people don't make the effort they get what they deserve, times I have told people MP's are there to work for them so get writing and see them.

One of the big problems that makes us Brits sit on our arses, is the non-elected coalition that seems to contradict itself depending on whether a Tory or a LiB-Dem makes the sound-bite!

Also the fact that the government is welding an Axe to public spending when a scapel is needed - don't get me wrong, i'm a socialist by choice but, Gordon Brown pissed me off with his "prudence" budgets - so called "saving for a rainy day" and all that, so when that rainy day comes along (now!!) and we don't have public pot to pee in, it makes it slightly difficult to give a Sh*t!!

Apothetically yours,

Kaleun

I dislike Palin but that makes no sense, she was not running for President, she was running for VP and look at what Obama's election has done and is doing to our nation.I dislike Palin, but would take her over Obama anyday.

If people don't make the effort they get what they deserve, times I have told people MP's are there to work for them so get writing and see them.Correct to get action in the Westminister system the puiblic have to make the lives of their MP's difficult to prod them into action. Writing to them phoning them and meeting with them encourages them to understand that you are not happy with what they are doing. If you do nothing nothing will change.
