I have noticed the sound of air from the ballast tanks repeats over about half dozen times on a dive and when surfacing this noise repeats forever, is there a fix?:hmmm:

DOes it happen to you when in high TC mode, or in TC x1?

This happens with me too.

I just dive and surface again or blow emergency ballast to stop it.

@Reece: i don't know a fix, _but_ I use a few sound mods (good ones) and I've never encountered that bug. So if you're willing to try them, they might solve it also for you:

@Reece: i don't know a fix, _but_ I use a few sound mods (good ones) and I've never encountered that bug. So if you're willing to try them, they might solve it also for you:

Whatever the above means - good luck. :arrgh!:Skwas Silent Editor (S3D) for SH3 & 4 still seems to work with (edit) the sh.sdl mixer file found in the data\sound folder.:yep:

Hi Ven, you have probably done what I have done, adding a long length of blank sound after the actual sound, this works for flooding ballast very well but has an unusual side effect with the blowing ballast, seems that the sound is totally gone, yet if I put in 3 second blank only I get a short burst of the flooding ballast sound on surfacing!! weird!!:hmmm:

This is even more weird, by adding a length of blank sound, about twice the length of the actual sound on the end of the 2 files they work perfectly for the one time only!!:oops::-?

Well there is nothing I can find to correct this, by extending the length of the Submarine tanks blowing.wav sound file it will either
1) keep repeating forever until TC is applied or some other function.
2) Work perfectly once only!
I noticed that this has something to do with the fact that when the boat is almost to the surface the Submarine tanks flooding.wav sound is heard!:hmmm:
Needless to say that the "once only" applies to both diving and surfacing sounds.:cry:
At the moment I will chose number 2 above, the repeating blowing ballast is very annoying! I'd rather none!:-?
One possibility is to add the sounds in the background of the speech files!:hmmm:

Ok; I've created two awesome sounds for blowing and flooding the Ballast Tanks, however; they don't bloody work :damn:

Like Reece I can't hear them :wah:

I have no other mods installed; as I create all mods from a blank install.

The new SFX audio files are about 2 minutes and 30 seconds in length. I have created a sound that is very unique as now you can hear the U-boat structure settling after it's flooding/blowing :smug:

It's strange how it is does not work....I have checked to see that it is the right format ...ie.....WAV file :hmmm:

I thought I was fairly good at cracking out audio SFX mods ...but; this is bloody crazy :doh:

Any ideas :06:

What mods are you running , i dont have that problem .

I removed them all except these, the save will not load without the "No magic skills v1.5" mod installed:

The problem is there with only these installed! Maybe a sound card issue? though I would doubt it!:hmmm:

Venatore, don't waste your time with editing the sh.sdl file, tried everything except reducing sound range, nothing else seems to work.:hmmm:

I had this same issue, I actually had to reinstall SH5 to fix it.

Well there were other factors involved in me having to reinstall like WIN7 not working properly, but unfortunately MS1.5 was the main reason why I had to reinstall

MS1.5? I'm running XP Pro.:hmmm: I should have copied the basic SH5 1.2 to a DVD so if anything goes wrong I could just remove mods and copy over, done this with SH3 and 4, got me out of a few jams!!:yep: Oh well looks like I might have to!:wah:

Fixed my mod problem, I'll be releasing a new mod tomorrow night (Aussie time), so hopefully it will fix you problem Reece.

Ballast Tanks will now have a whole new sound about them :03:

I had this same issue, I actually had to reinstall SH5 to fix it.Well I completely uninstalled/reinstalled SH5 and the problem is still there, though I did keep the old settings (My Documents\SH5 folder)!:hmmm: All I can do is disable them!:cry:

Recently re-installed SH4 and had the repeating noise (and noises) start after time compression after applying a new sound mod. Went through a few files and the source appears to be the following modded files in data/cfg/sound-

Submarine_CrashDive_INT
Submarine_DiveAlarm_INT
Submarine_Surface_INT

Simply put the stock sound files back in; the lengthy ones with the U-571 tracks from the SH2 PA mod appear to cause a problem. I use some great "oo-ga" surface and submerge wavs, can't remember where I got them though...
