Holly Cow you would not need to worry about escorts anymore. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

My question would be,
Why not?
:hmmm:
I've done things like this for testing.
I would not play the Game with this adjustment,
But no reason to dis a Guy for wanting to do it.
Just seems a tad weird to want a WWII Unterseeboot to go faster underwater than any surface ship can do at their best - offhand I can't think of any that went over 38-39 knots.

He is not asking to be correct as far as how fast a real Sub went.
If he wants his Sub to do 900 knots in his Game?
That is his choice.
We have no stance to tell him otherwise.
To attempt to do so?
Then we would have to put a limit on any and all Mods!
Are you really ready to get into that type debat?

I agree with this. Some time ago I used XXI in sh3 from 1939 as a SSN sub with max undrwater speed of 42Kt. Max torp. launch depth for this toy was set up for 350m :O:. If he like to play for fun, this is his choice, nothing more.
But XXI equiped with reactor should have underwater speed close to the Skate class = about 18-19Kt.
In a previous post someone asked about increasing the max speed with diesels, only downside was fuel consumption skyrocketed. Would a type XXI have enough battery power to run at that speed for more than a few minutes? Would be a cool red button to mount somewhere in the command center, almost like NOS for a sub

Nice joke:rotfl2:If someone like to increase underwater speed to 45 kt should only upgrade power of the electric engines and disable limitted bateries option. 20000-35000 shp should be enough, and don't forget about noise.:rotfl2:

No one explains HOW to do it... lol
-EDIT:
This is my first time attempting to mod anything. And I figured it out. And now I know why people dont want them to have such a mod. It can be abused online. And virtually ruin the multiplayer part thats LEFT of this game...
But I personally believe they should be able to mod their own game in any way for single player fun. So, if you want it bad enough you can do some research on here and figure it out.

I used to have a program made by someone here that would allow you to edit the ship's speed to whatever you wanted... Not sure what it was called.
I used to have a sub that would do 200 knots on the surface and submerged, damn thing used to jump and spin out of the water all the time. :yeah:
Anyway, you can use the S3D to make adjustments

It's feasible and easily done if you manipulate the submarine dat file using S3D, that will allow you to change the surface and submerged speeds along with the ranges and power from the diesel and electric motors, then you will have to edit the sub cfg file to the new settings or they will limit the changes made to the dat file (regards speed). You have to consider a lot of other things, if you change the speed, there is a nasty side effect that will send your sub to the bottom everytime you do a crashdive, also at high speed while submerged will be difficult to keep it steady, so be prepared to "learn" how to tweak more stuff than just the speed. I do not concur with the idea that altering the files to unrealistic specs is bad, after all that is what all modders do, to find the limitations and act upon, so if you really want to learn, then find first the 3SD tools and read the tutorial, after a while you will get the hang of it and do your own minor or major modifications based on EXPERIENCE.
Good luck and welcome to the forums.
:salute:
P.S. The sub file to tweak is the sim file not the dat file. Sorry.

45 knots underwater? Whatever floots your boot. :DL
Maximum range can be set in the same file for the diesel engines and the electric motors. Fuel consumption on the surface, and battery drain while running submerged, are based on the maximum range at cruise speed. Or something like that, anyway. :yep:
Make backups before you save.
