View Full Version : GWX4 Uboats?

Hello Kaleuns,

I know the GWX4 project had been cancelled, but I remeber that they showed some improved and very good looking Uboatmodels on their homepage some time ago.

They were supposed to be part of GWX4, but it (unfortunately) never happened.:wah::wah:

Will it be possible that these Uboats will be released as a stand-alone Mod?

Even if they´re unfinished, maybe some talented Modders (quite sure that there are a few around in this forum) might finish them and they would be available for the community?

Of the GWX 4 Subs Ref did?
Only the Type IXC is in my hands.
No other version is held by any of the GWX team that I am aware of.
Ref left SubSim nearly a year ago and has not answered e-mails nor PM's.
What is left of the GWX Team may do a release at some point of the IXC.
But I'll not promise that it will happen.
We do have some questions about would it be proper to use his work.
I'd say it's Jimbuna and Kpt's call.

Somewhere in the SH5 workshop thread there are images of Ref's work.
They are copied to my Photobucket account also.
If you can't find them?
Let me know and I'll post up the images.
The Type IXC is quit a bit of kit!
And I do have all the files ready to go for SH4.
But it is not my call as I stated before.

Hi Privateer, would be nice if you could post them !
I flipped through the SH5 Mods Workshop but didn´t find them.

And I do have all the files ready to go for SH4.
But it is not my call as I stated before.

I hope and pray that the creators of the IX C read this thread and give their ok to use their model! :yep::yep:

The IXC is complete and ready for SH4.
I have it in my install.
It's not my call to release it for SH4 users.
As it is a GWX 4 Unit?
Permission from Jimbuna and Kpt is needed to release.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the IX C, what a great and detailed model!
It would be a shame not to have it in the game, it´s too beautiful to not being released to the SH IV community.

Please, Jimbuna and Kapitän Lehmann, give orders to get her sailing across the screens of many enthusiastic subsimmers!

I looked at modding Ref's IXC.
But I never did it.
It is Ref's model, unreleased by him.
The files any of The Grey Wolves have of Ref's IXC
were test files.

Fantastic test files I must add!
:yeah:

I'll run another
'what does everyone think?'
with Jimbuna and the rest of The Wolves.

It's a Top Notch job by a Master.
It was intended for release at one time.
Since Ref has not been around for a year+?

It would make a nice reminder of his talents,
insights,
and inspirations
in so many areas in the past years.

Oh on the contrary, I think the interest is there, but public responses may not be forthcoming when you consider the past history of events around ATO and PTO modding.

I'll not respond to your PM in a likewise manner, please take note of my message below to Privateer and consider that my response.

I've reponded at The Lair mate.

As we both know KL is quite busy making arrangements for his forthcoming wedding so I'd ask you to give him seven (7) days from this post to respond before you act.

If he doesn't respond within the seven (7) day timeframe go ahead and release but include all the permissions and nameing criteria you originally suggested over at The Lair.

As we both know, Refs work is of the highest calibre and I honestly believe those that appreciate the fact should be entitled to benefit and enjoy it.

I'm now awaiting a phone call from Texas, a ball chewing or a rescinding of a wedding invite, or all three http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2391/bubblegum21.gif

As of today,

We are starting a round of testing on ref's type IXC for SH4,
in preperation for a release here.

This U-Boat has never been properly tested to GWX standards to this date.
Before release it will meet, or exceed, the standards of the GWX Team.
That's always been our way of doing things.
So that will not change now.

It will be released in a state just as it would have been released in GWX 4.

Very good news!:yeah::yeah:

Madox58
09-28-10, 03:18 PM
One thing We will be adament on?
It must always be refured to as
'Ref's Type ICX for GWX 4'

There will be no exceptions!
If I release a Scheneltachback mod?

It will be
'Ref's Type ICX for GWX 4 Scheneltachback by Privateer'

Ref's Type ICX for GWX 4 must always be stated first!

I will not back down from that demand!
And I will do all I can to inforce it.
Buried credits will not be allowed!

I have to much respect for ref to allow this release to be just taken
without proper respects paid.

No parts of this release may be modified without prior permissions of the
releaseing parties.
That being the GWX Team.

I won't dig up the past, i'll just tell you guys how things are right now. The only "PTO modders" that your statement would apply to in this particular forum, would be myself, and Lurker.

Lurker quit. He's had enough, he never was much for words, but in private he announced he quit both modding and the forums. Both here, and at the kickinbak forums. No long good byes, not even a full paragraph of a post. Haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. I applaud his resolve. Usually if i say i quit, im back in 3 months or so. He follows through.

I..... no longer give a damn about mod politics, and the like. I'm past the point of giving a rats ass about all the BS that used to have I/we/us/everyone all fired up. I'm just too tired about it all to care anymore. Point being, while i did start a limited scope uboat mod (purely out of spite for that asstastic POS called SH5.) ... i don't have the energy to do anything more with it. The idea of doing another large mod.... all over again, sounds about as much fun to me as pulling my teeth out with a set of linemans pliers. I wish i never started it at all. So I'm not on the lookout for a type 9 model to use, or whatever else, if that was ever a concern.

In summary, you really have nothing to worry about. At least not from any of the pto modders. In my opinion, everyones about done, out of energy, or has moved on. Now, excuse me while i go back to general topics. :rotfl2:

That's news. It's really too bad. I can see how quickly things could have become aggravating from his point of view. He did so much for this community just to hear nothing but complaints and people not following his strict guidelines. Considering how much he put into his mods, for the return he received, I can see why he quit.

However, looking at Kpt. Lehmann's post, I'm trying to consider if he's looking to restart a small portion of what was going to be GWX4. I'd love to offer any help I can, be it beta testing (I can keep a secret!) or what have you.

Don't forget about the other side of ATO modding, the surface warfare aspect, Ivank and I have that down. :D

My statement Ref's work contains his name is for several reasons.
I'm not worried about You Ducimus, nor Lurker.
It's nothing like that at all!
It's out of respect for Ref and his MANY contributions to the SubSim community.
And the fact that We can not contact him at all.
Many of us spent alot of time debateing on what to do with his IXC because we could not contact him.

If I posted in a way that anyone took wrong?
I'm sorry but I have a way of doing that and not meaning to.

The Testers have pointed out things that need fixed.
I'm working on those at this time.
(It was just an Alpha version the Devs had a chance to look at)
I don't spend as much time working on mods as I did in the past.
Mostly because this system is on it's last legs.
It's far to frustrating to spend hours working on something only to
lose that work when it CTDs.

1. It will be here Tomorrow.

2. If Tomorrow comes and it is not here, reread #1. Repeat this process every day.

3. When it arrives, this message will no longer be relevant, and you can stop reading it.

All of which is a joking way of saying a timetable cannot be forced on people doing something like this, and it will be here when it's here. :sunny:

I've just got the new system stable Guys!
It suffered a breakdown of the PSU!
It will take a few days now to install programs and get to work.
I don't dump a butt load of programs on a new system and hope for the best.
I install one at a time and do testing to insure everything is working properly,
then install the next program and so on and so forth.

Ref is gone, I'm the only one working on his IXC and MANY different projects also!

The way Storm of War is going?
Before.
:yep:

System problems stopped a massive amount of work.
They also caused a lot of work to be lost!
Now I can re-build that work and much more!
And WAY faster.

I've also got someone to assist on somethings now I believe.
So I can work on the 3D issues while he helps by looking at the UPC stuff.
I'm not a UPC guy and it would take awhile to get up to speed.

I also couldn't do tests. That issue is now solved.
I can FINALLY run SH4 in all it's Glory.
No lag or stutters.

Ref's IXC is only the start of things I have wanted to do from the very release of SH4.
