:) Hi everyone :)

I am running , oh trying to , run the SH3 , patch 1.4, +GWX3 , in win7x64
but, I don't know how many times I've been install , re-install this game :nope:
I have the old cd with staforce on it .
Right now , I get a black screen when the intro is over .

Okay here is what I did :

Unistalled previous install with putting in the cd and uninstall from there .
Run the CCleaner , and removed in my " documents " the SH3 folder in there , and go into my install path : " C:\Games\ubisoft\silenthunterIII "
and delete the folder "Games" , after that I go to "regedit" and delete whatever is relation with SH3 ,SH3Cmndr3.2 , and I also use the nHancer259x64bit , and uninstalled and removed that too . Rebooted .
So I run the starforce removing tool , but a popup said "there is nothing to remove" . Rebooted again .

And then I :

Installed the SH3 again in these steps :

Putting the sh3 cd in , and go to the "win.explorer" and found the "setup.exe" , rightclicked on it , and choosed " run as adm + for all users" in " properties " I choosed compability mode " run in windowsxp servicepack 2 " . After that I rightclicked on " setup.exe " again , and choosed the " troubleshoot " , and in " troubleshoot " I choosed " run in recommended settings " , and clicked on the button
"start the programme " . And now the game is using a long time to install , about , 20 - 30 minutes :o
I also patched the game with the "1.4vb patch ,
and did also " run as adm + for all users " and also let it run in
" windows servicepack 2 " . When it comes to GWX3 I am uncertain , but I've let it run also in " windows xp servicepack2 run as adm + for all users
shall I also run this GWX in this mode , or shall I run it in "servicepack 3 "
I also run this as , " run as adm + for all users " .
Oh yeah , after I copyed those no cd cracks files in SH3 directory , a popup window said " there is no cd in the drive " :dead:
I don't think this game will install on my system :nope:

Those times I have run the game before in win7x64bitI've had several CTD
with this popup said , " SilenthunterIII stopped working " . I'm sick and tired of these problems , BTW , I also diconnect the internet connection , and deactivated antivirus program while playing .

My system is :

Acer Aspire
AMD Athlon 64 3500 processor .
Win7x64bit
Nvidia 8600 GT 512mb ram
4 gig RAM

I also had black screen where I sometimes hear sound and other times , noo sound at all :damn:

So what is wrong :wah:

You explained that you REMOVED the " C:\Games\ubisoft\silenthunterIII " folder. But did you also install it back in such a folderpath, or was it the default?

P.s. In my experience no compatibility options are required. Other than the above. You should need administrator permissions only when you are installing the game, patching, or applying the GWX mod. Not for playing. (but I don't use those no-cd files, which might force administrator credentials)

:) Thanks for quick replay .

I removed the install path : " C:\Games\ubisoft\silenthunterIII "
And when I do a re-install I nstall like above .
But right this minute I do a new re-install to : " C:\ubisoft\silenthunterIII "
I don't know if that makes a difference , I don't think so :nope:
I also removed the win9 codecs , because JCones wrote that he did in the " Win7 " thread . So I now want to see what 's happening :dead:

Thanks for the help

I am not sure what your problem is; I have win7-64 and have not had any problems saved that with nHancer2.5.9. However, nHancer will not automatically load a profile for SH3/4 as I have to do it manually so this has not been a problem and I left it on my computer.
After you uninstall the game from the disc, you must clean your registry with a good reg cleaner. You must also check the folder "C://Users/Owner/AppData/Local/VirtualStore" to make sure that there isn't any reference to SHIII there. You must delete the MyDocuments/SH3 folder. And you must reinstall outside of your program files.
Deleting the movies from "SilentHunterIII/movies/intro" sometimes helps.
I would also suggest you splurge and purchase a disc that is starfarce free, already patched to 1.4b, and is no CD enabled for your reinstall ($10).
After install make a copy of the SilentHunterIII folder and store it elsewhere (DVD or another Hard drive) and do the same with your GWX install.
When you need to reinstall, then just delete the SilentHunterIII folder and copy the unmodified SilentHunterIII or GWX folder back in.
GWX should load in just a few minutes, not 30+
I have not had a problem with the Win9 codec.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help :rock:As long as it is not in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" or Windows, then you're ok.

As long as it is not in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" or Windows, then you're ok.

Alternatively if your using a rig thats not shared, ie. has multiple users, then just disable UAC. You'll never have a problem again !

Best regards.
