I know red means enemy vessel sunk but what does a grey one mean? it sank out of sight or its unconfirmed?

It means it was sunk by other means, a collision or weather for instance. Either way, you don't get credit for it. I had this happen to me once.

Yes, you do get credit for grsy sinkers. It hapens when you donīt see the ship sink. I find it is not consistent as to why it appears gray. :hmmm:

I agree that you do get credit for grey icon sinkings. I had a couple on my last patrol and got credit for both of them.

I thought you had to see a ship sink to get credit for it? I never found out if I got tyhe credit for the one int the picture as I died that patrol.

You have to be within range of the "SH3 world" to get credit. The game renders about 50 kms of "world" within which you operate. If you torpedo or shell a ship and leave the "world" in which it occurred and it then sinks, you will not be credited for it. You do not have to literally see it sink, merely be in the same "world" when it sinks.
