View Full Version : Deck Gun Sound Mod

I have returned to playing SH3 recently and I'm using GWX 3.0, and quite a few other mods. It's still early in the war so I can use the run down and gun down tactic for many of the small fry.
But here's the thing, while the gun is reloading, all you hear is dead silence. It would be much more immersive if you heard the sound of the gun being worked. As in the breach being opened, the ka-ching of the spent shell being ejected and rattling on deck, the next round being loaded in the breech, the breech closing, the tap-tap on the helmet when the the next round is ready to fire etc.
Also, it would give an audio cue to when the gun is ready to fire, as I'm too busy aiming to look at the progress bar, and more often than not, hitting the space bar a fraction of a second too soon.
If a sound sample of a gun being worked of the right length could be found, would the creation of such a mod be possible? Thanks in advance!

Just found out that Ktl_KUrtz has created a mod that does what I described, can anyone point me to that one as well. Thanks NGT for the quick reply!:salute:

not sure about that sound being in there but it was a sound used in
The Living Silent Hunter 3 and its in version 5 I think :hmmm:

Might be more appropriate to look in a section that covers LSH mods then :hmmm:

Both NGT and SeaWolf U-57 gave me a good samples, and I will be using SeaWolfs, which is far better than the stock sample, but still short of what I would consider idea. Ideally, the sample would last the entire loadtime, and give an audio cue as to when the gun was ready to fire. I'll dig up my wav. editing software and see if I can't combine and improve on the two samples. Thanks guys for taking the time to help me!
