View Full Version : Is This Possible?

One thing that has bothered me about this game (not just with SH5) is that when you're attacked by aircraft, and you decide to duke it out with them, if you hit one and his wing catches on fire the stupid bugger will keep on fighting like nothing is wrong!
Is it possible to somehow mod them to be semi intelligent so that when they are damaged they will break off and return to base? I've had planes with both wings on fire still attack me relentlessly. If that's not possible, could they be modded to blow up after a certain amount of time of being on fire? It's just one of those immersion killers that makes me shake my head when I see it. Thanks for any replies.

I's sure its possible. May be worth asking in TDW's IRAI thread.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. For some reason I was only thinking that he was tweaking the ship AI and not the planes. Thanks for the suggestion.

sorry, not possible or I would've already implemented it. There are no functions available to read the damage of the plane. The planes, by far, are the worst of the AI as far as ability to script. Subs are a close second....

Thanks for your reply mate! Sorry to hear that it's not doable. :( Love the work you've done so far, very much appreciated! :yeah:

Useing the 'Link to' in the .zon file,
one might be able to link to the AI Visual node so it's destroyed.
With no Visuals, the plane should fly off.

interesting idea. Yeah that should work - would be just like the wires between the masts getting destroyed when one of the masts is destroyed :hmmm:

can't you make them just have less health? A flaming engine is bad news in the 1940s. Doubt many single engine fighters RTBd with one.
Flaming engine should equal popped chutes imo.
