Greetings,

This mod adds numbering and more to the u-boat pens at St.Nazaire.

It includes an edited st_nazaire.dat file from BigBoyWooly's "Wilhelmshaven plus locks for GWX 3" mod (GWX_3_Wilhemshafen,St_Naz,Schluese_and_xtra_ships _V5) and a further edited harbor_kit.dat file from V-Mofications "Uber-Alles Harbor_Kit" mod which in turn combines entries form both the Wilhelmshaven plus locks for GWX 3 mod and HanSolo's "animated sub-pens" mod. With the following additions by me:

Changes to sub pen exterior/models.

I have redone the sub pen models again and, as well as the individual sub pen numbers on the front and inter-connecting pen numbering, I have added the following:

1. Each Pen has external numbering on the front eg. "B 12 A" on the front as did the St. Nazaire pens.

2. Each Pen has numbering above one of the doorways leading to the next pen.

3. The mod includes a new "center" pen model (pens 2-13) which enables each pen to be inter-connected.

4. New roof to try and replicate the "Fangrost" bomb-proof roof structure.

5. New pen ceiling texture.

6. New entrances to pens 1 and 14 with large armoured steel doors.

7. New railings on the top of the pens.

8. New animated flag and flagpole on top of the pens.


Additons to the pen interiors:


1. A railway line that runs the length of the pens complete with a locomotive and freight carriages etc.

2, Trucks, kubelwagons and a motorbike and a group of soldiers.

3. Added many signs such as "Rauchen vorbotten", "mitte turm" (middle of the conning tower marks for docking) etc. as well as adding several posters.

4. Edited the 3d model to increase the crew on deck and changed them to include officers and also re-done the uniform texture and changed the enlisted men to wear sidecaps and the officers wear caps.

5. Gangplanks added to docked u-boats as well as sub flags and flagpoles.

6. Edited the 3d model and changed the hat on the "Kaleun" figure to the white style.

7. Edited "Werner's" 3d model to include a leica camera and strap and added his kit bag.

8. Added various other objects such as oil drums, crates, oranges and bread crates on deck.

9. Reduced the number of working cranes and changed the timings and also added new loads for them.

10. Added MG emplacements to some pens.

Lot's of new stuff in the new version, crew on deck have 7th Flotilla cap badges, all type 7b turms have emblems of various type 7b 7th Flotilla boats, new objects such as cleats, bumpers and Testpilot's excellent new BMW motorcycle, new sounds: train, flag fluttering, BMW motorcycle, Opel Blitz truck engines and much much more. New Werner and Kaleun's faces and much more which I'll leave you to find for yourself :), hint: have look at pen #6.I have tried to make each pen different so that no two pens are exactly the same.

Also included in the enclosed Textures folder are the textures for the crew caps, turm emblems and wimple pennants used so that you can edit these if you wish. Note the turm emblems and pennants textures are alpha-channel tga files.

Please enable the mod using JSGME.


You will require HanSolo's Animated Sub Pen / WAC4.1 SubPen_animated_18.02.2010 and BigBoyWooly's New Wilhelmshaven plus locks for GWX 3 (GWX_3_Wilhemshafen,St_Naz,Schluese_and_xtra_ships _V5) and my mod should be enabled AFTER these two mods thus:

Hi mate,

I have tested this with the mods listed in my posting. I run the /3GB patch for Windows XP. I think that, if one can run these mods together with the original animated sub pens then one can run the new subpen mod.

I know there are some big mods in the listed like FM's interiors, the Wilhelmshafen/St Naziare mod and the new sub pens and I guess that mileage may vary between folks. My new sub pen mod is, of course, bigger than the original.

All good Aces! Your mods have been very accurate so it will just be a time thing merging and testing. Havnt used FM interiors to laggy for my setup or the sub pens but 80% of what you have listed all work fine to me being combined.

Probably get away with the Han Solo sub pen as the Wilhelmshafen/St Naziare mod v6 is no problem to run! So adding in your mod should be ok!

Been using a version of your sdl file, works sweet and killed some sound clipping I had.

The 42s are Testpilot's from his BMW mod, I took the model, removed them, gave them an AA sight, lightmapped them and stuck them on the Turm. All being well they'll be available in Super Turms v5.

i got the new version today a would like to give some feedback.
First of all it is great!!
On my first "walk through" i did not hear the speech of Prochnow. I did not have any sdl activated after your V3.
I like the new tower mailings but i think the tower colour do not match the colour of the hulls. Maybe it`s possible to do some adjustments.
Further i found some mines (greetings to testpilot) into the bunker. Great idea. How about adding a VIID besides them ?

And last if you got any spare time P L E A S E do a Version for LSH and WAC.
This eyecandy should be useable by every Supermod. Should`nt it??:06:

If you need a VIID i have some, made by Tomi99 and Square Steelbar years ago. I do not think a permission would be a problem.

Last question about the He111 shown on your last picture above: Is it the last released from Testpilot (coverted from Som Group)?

I heard it but, you have to get real close to hear it. I think the volume needs to be turned up a bit on the sounds Aces added. I barely heard the motor cycle but, didn't hear the train or the truck at all.

Sorry about the late reply, had yesterday evening off to un-wind a bit.

I haven't changed any of the original sounds, the positioning and volume of the original sounds are quite precise. You can hear the Kaleun's speech but you have to be close and in the right spot for maximum volume.

Regarding the new sounds, well they are equally tricky. I hear the BMW quite loud close up and also the fluttering flag sound on the turms but I agree that the train and trucks could do with a boost. I'll work on this and aso the BMW.

The Type 7b skin is from Konrad Krumms, it's a personal favourite. In the next version I'll change naming and include the files in the Textures folder so that one can use and skin that one wishes.

I think the Type 7d to go with the mines is a very nice idea, I'll have a look at Tommi's boat and see what can be done, anyone have a download link for it please. I will probably have to move the mines to a new pen but that's not a problem.

The He-111s are a shameless plug for my multi-skin bomber work that I did as a member of the BDG for Wings Of Victory, BoB2.

Now regarding WAC, LSH etc., I have no idea what this entails. I don't know how they differ from one another and GWX. I am happy to do a couple of fresh game installs and install them but I will need some advice on what might need changing to make the pens compatible. If there's hundreds of addresses to change then that will be a long and painful job. Maybe it is a lot simpler than that I really don't know what needs doing yet so any advice most welcome.

Edit: Okay I've added Tommi's Type 7d to pen #9. Assuming those two big hatches behind the Wintergarten are to load/bring mines up then Testpilot's mines are too big so I have re-sized the mines to 50% of their original size and they now look like they'll fit trough the hatches, pics this evening.

thanks for your reply.
I think the differences between GWX and the other Supermods will not be so big.
For example they all use the new made terrain for St. Naz. Your great bunker work started in/with Hansolos Bunker so be sure for someone who did this great mod will be trasfering it to LSH/WAC no really problem. If i could help with files i will do so, same for Magic for sure.

Then I'll have questions regarding what needs changing to make the pens work with these.

The Type 7d is in but I think that a 1945 boat looks quite odd in 1941, did Tommi or anyone else do an earlier Type 7d?.

What kind of problem do you have?, is it a CTD? in which case and assuming that you are running Windows XP, how much RAM do you have and are you running the /3GB patch?.

As I understood it V6 only changed one harbor map on the pulldown chart showing the different mine field and sub net positions in the different harbors.

Win7 Ult 64 bit 24 GB of Ram - 6 slots @ 4gb ea. 3GB Patch ???

SH3 GWX 3.0 runs fine

I really want this mod Aces. :yep: Red loading bar stops 1\4 inch from end then nothing.

I could be wrong and most probably am but I'm struggling to remember a v5 :hmmm:

IIRC It came out and then V6 was released about 2 weeks later with the updated harbor map, after someone pointed out there was a new map available.

I think the problem you described is because it's running out of memory. I think you may require the /3GB patch. See this thread:

It's just that current models seem not correct?
They are just a bit 'off' in the placement of the Mine laying part for
the early U-Boats.

I finally found BBW's explanation for the difference between V5 and V6.

Only difference is have fixed the floating light house at neuwerk
Due to terrain changes it sat off land and none of us spotted it :oops:

So I was wrong about it being only a map change.

I finally found BBW's explanation for the difference between V5 and V6.



So I was wrong about it being only a map change.

No problem mate....it's just that I simply can't find a link to satisfy my curiosity :DL

Hi chaps,

Had a very busy and productive weekend.

I've installed WAC and done a few tests with the mod and I'll be working on it this week. I'll do WAC first before looking at the other super mod.

PS. I've got an interesting problem. Tommi's Type 7d turm DAT file includes the three usual textures, hull, deck and conning BUT I cannot extract them or export them they save but won't open as TGA and S3ditor doesn't display them in the Texture window. I need to have a look at them for some modding I'm doing to the model, any advice very welcome thanks. S3ditor does display the model with the textures in 3d viewer but I cannot export them.

Edit: I solved the above problem by renaming to .BMP after export :)

BTW, I'll make the neccessary changes to make the mod compat with v6 for the next version.

that's my fault. In 2007 I assisted Tomi in building the 7d type and edited some of Xiskio's skins with a faulty graphics proggy.
Nevertheless they worked in SH3...

Thanks mate, that's kind of you.

I managed to save them by renaming to .bmp and then opening them in DXTBMP abd saving as TGAs. Lovely looking boat the 7d, very nicely done.

A update on the missing new sounds I reported earlier. I found that they do show up but, only in certain small spots inside the pens, usually about halfway between the floor and ceiling in the middle of each pen. That is where I hear the train, sledge hammer, intercom announcements, and other sounds. The motorcycle, welding, and captains speech are where they should be.

Well known issue. This mod is at the moment only for St. Naz. Leigh is working on a Version with bunkers for the other harbours. (Thanks in forward for doing so):yeah:
