Venatore's Mission Statement
Create & distribute mods for free to the Silent Hunter 5 PC Gaming Community in order to transform the current simulation from a children's arcade game to a hardcore WWII German U-boat strategic simulation
My name is Venatore, I'm an independent modder who started developing & delivering mods to the Silent Hunter III community in 2005. I developed a system on SubSim so as to contain all my my in one thread & this was called "Venatore's Drive Through". In the end I had produced 88 mods in total. These mods encompassed audio SFX files, skinning TGA files on both crew uniforms & the external & internal TGA files for U-boats.
I mainly dabble in the audio & eye candy department of the Silent Hunter simulation, I am not experienced enough to create objects within the game itself, I leave that up to the more talented modders of the SubSim community.
VENATORE'S MODDING ETIQUETTE
PERMISSIONS:- When delivering mods incorporating other modders work I will ensure that I have sought permission prior to the mod being uploaded onto Subsim. If; in the event that I was unsuccessful in seeking out the creator of the original mod I will ensure that I mention both in the thread & Readme documentation contained within the mod that I state that I was not the original creator of the mod.
If you want to incorporate a mod that was created by me I ask that you contact me via the SubSim PM (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/private.php?do=newpm&u=216505) to seek permission.
MOD LAYOUT:- I will ensure my mods are thoroughly tested by me prior to uploading so as check that the file structure pathway is correct & compatible with JSGME.
LINKED MODS INDEX:- Acknowledgment goes to "Carotio" for providing advice about linking the mod post to the index ..... Thank you "Carotio" with helping me provide a user friendly one-stop mod thread layout for the Silent Hunter V community members.
Kind Regards
Venatore

U-Boat Reports & Returns [R & R]
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/1.jpg
These documents are for those Silent Hunter community members who want to add a different dimension to the simulation. The Reports & Returns [R & R] are documents that I created to help record U-Boat resource usage during war patrols.
The documentation contained within the Reports & Returns are as follows;
Front Cover.
Torpedo Usage Report.
8.8cm SKC35 Deck Gun Ammunition Usage Report.
2cm C30 Ammunition Usage Report.
2cm Flak 38 Ammunition Usage Report.
3.7cm SKC30U Ammunition Usage Report.
3.7cm M42U Ammunition Usage Report.
Defensive Countermeasure Usage Report.
Aircraft Contact Report.
Ship Contact Report.
There is no requirement for these documents to go into the Silent Hunter game file folder.
Also contained in this mod is a example version, look at the first line within each report to get an idea of what to enter.

Comment removed,
Venatore: I'm sorry if what I posted sound like an accusation. It was just annoying that for a good while now I've had no problem with downloads and my computer has been running really smooth. And then after the download everything went to hell.
Venatore: What was the procedure on things like this? Was it just a log kept and submitted once the patrol was completed? Or did they encrypt and send this information as the patrol was on-going?

Not all the SH5 community is going to accuse you or disturb, Venatore. We deserve good modders to make this game better. I´ve enjoyed your mods for SH3, and now want to enjoy it for SH5.
Calm down, (Krauter apologized after all) and reconsider upload the file again.
We need modders like you here. I missed some SH3 modders here, and one of them it´s you.
Thanks for joining kamerad Venatore.

I sincerely hope you reconsider staying with the SH5 community, Modding has come on a great deal since SH5's release and there are others working on tools to give us even more modding abilities.
I can understand that Krauter post may have been a bit heated, but I know I would be a bit upset if infected by something even though it was unknow to the poster.
I hope ye can shake hands and put this behind.
Sh5 has a good comunity just like SH3 and SH4. I look forward to seeing you on the threads and also to trying out your work ;).

Krauter,
I'm gathering like any war patrol they would have consolidated all documentation for that patrol and archived it. Prior to that; I reckon the staffing officers of the U-boat would have used the information to back-brief the chain of command and technicians in relation to malfunctions, stoppage drills on the deck gun, AA guns and especially the torpedoes.
I use the documents as a gauge to see if improvements are achieved on patrols as the war goes on, having raw data to look at in a holistic picture provides you with a accurate snapshot on how good your crew/your command decisions were throughout each and every patrol.
Kind Regards Venatore (U-657)

German U-Boat Crew Language Pack
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/00.jpg
The German speech files are already located within the Silent Hunter V game, however; to active them you have to either load the game in German or drag files across into the JSGME.
This mod makes it easier for those gamers who may feel nervous about tinkering with files in their Silent Hunter V game.
To utilise my mod just drop the “German U-Boat Crew Language Pack” into the MODS folder within JSGME and activate it.
You will still get English subtitles, to help you exactly what the crew are saying.
For your information the German speech files are located at; data/LngGameData/voices/german.
This mod was created by Venatore.
This mod has the correct file structure pathway to use with JSGME.

Krauter,
No other files were manipulated in this mod. These are only speech audio files, so if the creator of the Das Boot Sound Mod didn't use the speech files then there shouldn't be a conflict.

amb_Hydrophone.wav
Depth charge under-water trail_hyd.wav
Depth charges exploding at surface_hyd.wav

Torpedo Explosion_hyd.wav
Torpedo_Cruise_loop_hyd.wav
Torpedo_dud_hyd.wav
I would like to thank SubSim community member "SquareSteelBar" for helping me in my endeavors in tracking down a particular hydrophone audio file which for me was one of the key sounds for this mod. "SquareSteelBar" I thank you for coming to my aid & providing the missing piece to my mod.
All Audio files contained within this mod were created & modded by Venatore (exempt the creation of "Scufundare vapor_hyd.wav").
I would also like to take this opportunity to advise the SubSim community that the audio file called "Scufundare vapor_hyd.wav" contained within this mod was not created by me. This particular eerie ship sinking sound featured in the Silent Hunter III GWX Mega Mod and was the sound used in the move "Das Boot", I do not know who the original creator of the Das Boot Scufundare vapor_hyd.wav file was, but; thank you who ever you are.
This Mod should be used in conjunction with my mod called "German U-Boat Internal Routine SFX".
This mod is JSGME compatible.

German U-Boat Internal Routine SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/3.jpg
This mod replaces six original Silent Hunter V internal German U-Boats audio files with modded versions.
The six audio files which have been modded are as follows;
amb_SubmarineInterior_Q.wav
ambiance_Command-room_Q.wav
ambiance_Conning_tower_Q.wav
ambiance_Kitchen_sequence.wav
ambiance_Radio-room.wav
ambiance_Torpedo-room_Q.wav
All audio files are approximately 14 minutes in length.
This Internal routine SFX featured on all audio files contained within this mod were created by Venatore.
All files contained within this mod are identical so while walking within the U-boat from bow to stern the internal routine SFX audio file becomes one continuous sound. When talking to the men in the forward torpedo compartment you will hear distant coughing, hatches shutting, whispering, footsteps, cook at work and much much more. Whilst operating the hydrophone you will here the crews routine.
I originally created this mod for Silent Hunter III many years ago & have now manipulated the mod so as to be effective in Silent Hunter V.
For best results you should consider using my mod called "German U-Boat Hydrophone SFX".
This mod is JSGME compatible.

Luftwaffe Combat Radio Frequency 88.00 MHz
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/4.jpg
This mod introduces frequency 88.00 MHz, so you & your U-Boat crew can listen to Luftwaffe units conducting operations against the enemy.
To listen to the Luftwaffe Combat Radio Frequency you must scan to the following frequency: 88.00 MHz.
The frequency audio file is approximately 21 minutes in length.
This audio was created by an unknown modder for IL-2 Sturmovik community many years ago. I introduced it to the Silent Hunter III community in 2005, & have now manipulated the mod so as to be compatible with Silent Hunter V.
This audio file was merged & modded by Venatore.
This mod is JSGME compatible.

Is your interior Sound Mod compatible with Capthelms Audio Mod as well as M1's?
Also, how do I get your radio Mod to be compatible with the Grossdeutscher Rundfunk.. I really enjoy that Mod.. I'm just wondering because when I have yours installed, I have no frequencies other then 88.00 MgHz. I just want to know so that I may install more than one Radio Mod at a time :)
Capt Jack Harkness
08-22-10, 09:32 PM
For radio mods to be merged you have to add all of the frequency info from each mod to the radio config file, which should probly be put in the last radio mod you enable (although it'd really be simpler to put them all in the same file). They also have to be put in numerical order of frequency with the lowest number at the top.
Can't remember the exact name/location of the file but there are threads about radio mods here, just do a search for 'em.

This mod introduces my black & copper torpedo skin that was originally uploaded and introduced by me to the Silent Hunter III gamers in 2006.
I have now manipulated the torpedo skins so as to be compatible with Silent Hunter V.
The black & copper torpedo skin replaces all torpedo variants that you will see whilst in the external mode.
The six DDS files contained within, that have been modded by me are as follows;
g7a-sb.dds
g7a.dds
g7e-yb.dds
g7e-yg.dds
g7e-yr.dds
g7e.dds
This mod does not change the skins of the internal torpedoes in the forward torpedo compartment.

I can't do any better than that matey :06: (well I can now that Carotio posted :har:) by the way, I was the first to have all mods contained within one thread instead of the usual multi threads, this has/is always been my main effort .... to deliver a professional laid out mod thread with a mod index at the beginning to negate exactly what you have inquired about :yep:

The frequency audio file is approximately 10/11 minutes in length.

oscar19681,
Unsure what would be causing that problem :hmmm: Another work around would be to grab all the radio folders and place them into one complete JSGME mod that you create yourself. Just ensure that it has a radio file that covers all the frequencies,
If you're unsure; and would like me to create a Venatore Mega Frequency Mod which would contain all my frequencies .... I could do that for you :06:

Having a squadron of seagulls screaming at night is to say the least annoying and unrealistic :shifty:
To have them gobbing off from bunker to open sea is ..... you guessed it annoying. If just one Silent Hunter V gamer agrees with me and uses my mod then I've accomplished what I set out to do ...... make the game more enjoyable for individuals.
You may love seagulls, you may have a seagull as a mascot on your U-boat, you may cuddle up to one on day 35 of one of your war patrols :haha: ...... sorry not funny :03: anyway; let me assure you that no seagulls were hurt during the development of this mod :D

U-Boat Watch Crew Routine SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/U-BoatWatchCrewRoutineSFX.jpg
This mod introduces the audio for the U-Boat conning tower watch crew routine.
The following audio file has been modded;
amb_OceanSkyline_Q.wav
The background template for the ocean skyline is the audio file amb_OceanSkylineLight_Q. The reason for this is; I thought the original ocean skyline SFX that came with the Silent Hunter V game was to overpowering, hence; droning out the bow wave & other unique sounds.
I have created a 20 minute audio SFX mod containing whispering, coughing, sneezing and other unique sounds usually heard after 40 days consuming U-Boat rations http://www.silenthuntermods.com/forum/Smileys/extended/evillaugh.gif
German Language only.

mauriga,
As these are just audio files that i have created; thats all that would be conflicting with other members mods. Just choose which is the better sound and delete the other.
I don't test my mods with other members mods and nor should anyone do the same for that matter, only when mega mods start to appear is when I will test in relation to the mega ones.

Unterseeboot SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/Unterseeboot.jpg
This mod replaces six original Silent Hunter V internal German U-Boats audio files with modded versions.
The six audio files which have been modded are as follows;
amb_SubmarineInterior_Q.wav (1 hour continuous non-repetitive SFX)
ambiance_Command-room_Q.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Conning_tower_Q.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Kitchen_sequence.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Radio-room.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Torpedo-room_Q.wav (converted to silent)
All audio files contained within this mod were created by Venatore.
Walking within the confines of your Unterseeboot from bow to stern the 1 hour continuous non-repetitive SFX audio file will enable you to talk to the men in the forward torpedo compartment whilst hearing distant coughing, hatches shutting, whispering, footsteps, the cook at work, you will also experience the constant sounds of the hull of the Unterseeboot straining against the ocean and there’s even more! Whilst operating the hydrophone you will still hear the crew's routine.
For best results you should consider using my audio mods called;
German U-Boat Hydrophone SFX.
German U-Boat Crew Language Pack.
U-Boat Watch Crew Routine SFX.
Silent Seagulls.
This mod is JSGME compatible.
This mod is zipped with WinRAR.

As to engines, I found my Holy Graal already: I use Improved Engine Sounds (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163222) mod by BillyBubble and it's perfect. It not only gives new, better sounds for engines, but also solves some other issues - the sound transition between compartments and outside is much better, closed/open hatches now influence the noise level better, it's just overall excellent mod. No other mod I checked has so good engine sounds.
Just install it after any other sound mods and it will overwrite the engine related sounds.

At the moment, my only experience about modding SH5 files/folder, was to tweack myself the Shadows settings opening the Cfg/files/folder without JSGME

7th Seal is right, it´s not difficult, but in reality thats beside the point. It would be soo much more comfortable to have it all in one place after downloading instead of copy and pasting it from all over the place or having 6 different sfx mods more on you modlist. Hey, I thought I heard someone say the word lazy...:hmmm::haha: (Seriously, it does take up a lot of time.... to install , customize and activate all my mods after a fresh install I fool around pushing files for an hour or so. So I really appreciate combined packages, plz consider.)

Its based on the user in the end and basically one sound mod will provide each user request if applied during copy and paste. Its rather easy to place one sound mod based on the player and put all sounds into it as one prefers and to implement it as one desires. But then again maybe I'm missing something. :)

Thank you for your feedback and encouragement. I've noted your request/s for a large all encompassing sound SFX mod. I do understand where you are coming from, but; for me this goes against my modding style, I'll explain.
I don't mod multiple sounds all at once and deliver it to the community as I feel each sound has not been given due credit.
Each individual sound that I mod takes about 1 or 2 weeks to develop and test. This for me, fulfills my intent of delivering high quality sound SFX mods. If I was to wait till all my sounds were developed the all encompassing sound SFX mod would be ready in about the year 2020.
But; for some of you this is not satisfying your request and I am here to help. For those members who want a large all encompassing sound SFX mod which is JSGME compatible this is how you do it.
FOR MEMBER WITH LIMITED MODDING KNOWLEDGE
Step One: Create a new folder call it for example "all encompassing sound SFX mod"
Step Two: Then create within that new folder another new folder and call it "data".
Step Three: Then create within that "data" folder another new folder and call it "Sound".
That has now created your all encompassing sound SFX mod file structure pathway to be JSGME compatible.
Step Four: Search and download sound mods that are to your liking, extract sounds and place them all the way down into the "Sound" folder contained within the all encompassing sound SFX mod folder.
Please note over time you may have files overriding each other if you are wanting to replace a sound file with a sound file that all ready exists within the mod folder.
Once you have all your sounds open up the "MODS" folder within your SHV folder and place the all encompassing sound SFX mod folder in there. Close it, and activate JSGME and activate the all encompassing sound SFX mod from left column to the right column of the JSGME pop-up display.

I got a simpler DIY (DoItYourself) SFX mod solution:
1. Create a new folder named "LazyModderCollection" (anywhere on your disk).
2. Copy JSGME.exe into this folder, then launch JSGME.exe and select OK if it asks questions. Then close JSGME.exe.
3. Enter the MODS folder that was created inside your "LazyModderCollection" folder.
4. Copy (not move) any SFX mods you want to merge to this folder.
5. Launch the JSGMe.exe once more, enable all mods. Close JSGME.
6. Delete JSGME.exe, JSGME.ini, "MODS" folder.
You have just created a mod named "LazyModderCollection". Congratulations. It's JSGME ready, so copy it to your game MODS folder, enable using the JSGME you normally use to mod your game.
EDIT:
Or even simpler one (if you don't care about conflicts between merged mods):
1. Create a new folder named "LazyModderCollection" (anywhere on your disk).
2. Copy contents of the mods you want to merge into it.
You have just created a mod named "LazyModderCollection". Congratulations. It's JSGME ready, so copy it to your game MODS folder, enable using the JSGME you normally use to mod your game.

Regarding the Ballast tank sounds I am still having the same problems as before, that is with the original blowing ballast tanks the sound would keep going forever, with your sound it works perfectly but only once then the sound is gone on all future surfacing!:damn: I re-installed the game, started a new campaign but it is exactly the same, I believe some don't have this problem, do you have this problem Venatore?:hmmm:

No matey I don't have this problem. I was hoping that this mod may have fixed your problem at your end....but; it looks like what ever is causing your issue is dug in like a cattle tick :hmmm:
This is very strange indeed, in the fact that some members (limited) experience this problem and some don't (majority) :hmmm:
Maybe it is something like an XP issue, maybe it works with Win 7 fine, IIRC tonschk is having the same problem.:hmmm:
I may have to remove all mods (except SH3 command keys), start a new campaign and then give that a test!
Edit: I removed all mods and started a new campaign but the problem is still there!

I installed the blow ballast Venatore mod and at 150m deep I ordered surface (or periscope deep I dont remember) , the blow ballast was a different sound, like something around 10 seconds single sound of pressurised air moving , I think now is OK :yeah: , let me check this again to be 100% sure

Venatore, if I may make a small request. You may know that in my interior mod, I have included touch ups for the sounds of opening and closing a hatch. However, they are just that, touch ups. All I did was try to make them sound believable, instead of sounding like we are literally in a sardine can.
I figure since you are a master of SFX work, you might try your hand at them. I would love to have them completely replaced with a more realistic sound. Have you already done this, and I missed the mod that does it? If you do decide to work on them, I would love to include the sounds in my interior mod(with all credit given for it of course), as the stock sounds really detract from the realism IMHO.
Thank you either way.:salute:

U-Boat Propulsion SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/U-BoatPropulsionSFX.jpg
This mod replaces eight original Silent Hunter V audio files with modded versions.
The eight audio files which have been modded are as follows;
motor_Diesel_LOOP.wav (created by Venatore)
motor_Electric_LOOP.wav (created by Venatore)
Submarine_diesel_exterior.wav (merged & manipulated by Venatore)
Submarine propellers 2.wav (merged & manipulated by Venatore)
Submarine_diesel_underwater.wav (merged & manipulated by Venatore)
Submarine_electric_exterior.wav (merged & manipulated by Venatore)
Submarine_hyd.wav (created by Venatore)
Vapor Propeller.wav (created by Venatore)
By utilising this mod; your U-Boat propulsion will now have the familiar diesel U-96 Das Boot movie sound effect. I’ve also created a unique electric generator SFX for the U-Boat, for best effect stand in the generator room to listen to the new electric generator SFX.
Whilst in contact with the enemy, you should consider closing all compartment doors aft of the command room; this will reduce engine noise filtering into your command room compartment.
The Das Boot U-boat screw sound effect was created by an unknown modder of the Subsim community & I would like to acknowledge whoever he/she is. I would also like to thank Jimbuna for uploading sounds that I required to complete this mod.
For best results you should consider using my audio mods called;
German U-Boat Crew Language Pack
Unterseeboot SFX
All audio files contained within this mod were created & or merged by Venatore.
This mod is JSGME compatible.

Greetings Venatore,
I've installed the Unterseeboot SFX mod and it sounds terrific. The only minor thing I found was that after a while I get a continual knock sound as if someone is banging against the side of the U-Boat. It has gone into a loop.

DavyJonesFootlocker,
Honestly, I don't know, however; My actions on when commencing operations against the enemy is reduce speed to silent running, close all compartments aft of the command compartment, order all hands to battle stations and commence manoeuvrings against the enemy.
Sounds; I would hope play a big part in relation to enemy awareness & if you are compromised due to sound position then this simulation is better than I thought. If not then this simulation is far from realistic.

Hello Venatore , thank you for your sound Mods :yeah:, report about some of them:
1) : The blow ballast mod is OK, apparently when I order surface the starting blow sound is similar as the Stock SH5 blow ballast sound but is seamlessly followed by a pressurised air moving ( all this in about 10 or 15 seconds )
2) : When submerged, inside the sub the electric motors sound is OK, my comment is, the noise of the electric motor inside the diesel room is exact the same intensity as inside the electric motor room , therefore I think the electric motors must have the biggest noise inside the electric motor room
3) : This comment is a bit strange , and I am not 100% sure about this, I try already two single missions and when I surfaced the U-Boot, the diesel motor sound is OK when I am inside the sub, but when I jump out on the external bridge, I think I can hear the electric motor sound almost hidden behind the noise of the diesel engine, therefore apparently both diesel engine and electric motor are running simultaneously, I am not 100% sure about this because the electric motor is barely audible and is 95% covered up with the diesel engine sound

tonschk,
What your hearing is the whooshing of the screws exactly like in Das boot. When your on the conning tower you will still have the whooshing screw effect (it's ever so faint) but it is there. I did this on purpose so as it becomes a continuous effect through the U-Boat.
So to answer Q3; you are correct, however; I think is adds more SFX to the overall package.
You'll note in the movie Das Boot when U96 is compromised on the surface on two different occasions as she is just disappearing beneath the waves the footage switches to the external view of U96 descending and immediately the whooshing of the screw can be heard, this was well & truly within the time zone of the diesels still running.
It was a compromise for community members wanting the whooshing Das Boot SFX & trying to enhance an already existing SFX.
The Ballast tank mod has two very distinct sounds the original sound upon a dramatic shift in movement within the ballast & then a seamless transfer of the alternate sound which is the transfer / steady movement of the the ballast in action.
Thank you for your feedback, I've copied and pasted your comments into my mod bible documentation

:hmph: By the way.......the name is V.E.N.A.T.O.R.E
dont get me wrong i like to mod. Maybe you could just delete the captains conversations the rest seems to be good . Its just unrealistic to have the captain from das boot constatly comment on everything you do! Its like there is mutiny on the boat , Either that ot there are 2 captains aboard my boat!
Also i think the boats cracking sounds are a bit to much really , It would be cool if you where really deep but not all the time.
Trevally.

The three audio files which have been modded are as follows;
Fire_catastrophic.wav
Fire_medium.wav
Ship Fire 1.wav
By utilising this mod the sound of the fires on ships will have a more ferocious crisp crackling sound effect. I have also increased the sound volume.

tonschk,
What your hearing is the whooshing of the screws exactly like in Das boot.
Regards Ven
:DL I understood  Eveything is OK :salute: I was confusing the sound of the electric motor with the sound of the screw/propeller

Ambient Underwater SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/AmbientUnderwaterSFX.jpg
This mod replaces the original ambient underwater sound effect file with a modded version.
The audio file which has been modded is as follows;
amb_Underwater_Q.wav
By utilising this mod; the sound of the ambient underwater will have a totally new sound. This new sound has enhanced sounds and a less intrusive heavy rumbling sound in the background. This mod also enables you to really hear your U-boat electric & diesel engines underwater.

U-Boat Radio Room Telemetry SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/U-BoatRadioRoomTelemetrySFX.jpg
This mod replaces the original radio room telemetry sound effect file with a modded version.
The audio file which has been modded is as follows;
Radio Room Telemetry.wav
By utilising this mod; the sound of the radio room telemetry will be less intrusive and has more sound effects merged into it.
The original sound was way too loud for my liking. I have lowered the volume and added Morse code. There are two types of Morse code messages you will hear, the first is a normal message, the second is a repeated S.O.S signal.
For the radio operator his scripted writing actions are now related to the Morse code that he and you can both hear.
For best results you should consider using my Unterseeboot SFX mod, both mods compliment each other very well.

In a previous post, I was suggesting to merge many many of your SFX mods into a single Supermod (and I see in this SH5 forum other people are asking for a "SH5 SuperMod") , :hmmm: BUT, I am reconsidering this way to Mod approach because, for example I dont agree with some of the changes made by GWX to SH3,and I wanted to keep the SH3 % Hull Integrity (hit points) and also I dont agree with the SH3 GWX darker underwater colour , therefore now I think is a better approach to add smaller specific mods to fit my way to play SH5 instead of a huge Mod, of which I must start to delete the component I dont like.

I totally understand community members wanting a super SFX mod from me, but; I work on each and every sound effect file individually, taking up to 2 weeks in some circumstances. I'm not even half way through my SFX end-state development so if I was to make a SFX mega pack it would not be delivered to the SHV community till mid 2011 at the earliest
I do this so as to give each sound effect file full credibility and it avoid becoming a half arsed attempt :nope:
I have 20 x U-boat skins in the bunker not to mention the many uniform mods in development.
Rushing out crap mods has never been my style and I won't take shortcuts. The best I can do would say to the community make a file and call it for example Venatore's SFX mods. Just keep dumping my SFX mods into that folder each time one arrives.
I thank you for your constant feedback tonschk. It members like you that keep me in the modding development
Mega Mods are the way to go.....but; I think SHV is far from getting a dedicated modding team at this early stage of SHV's life. We are still missing some critical area modding talents and until they arrive us little tiny independent modders will forge on.
Kind Regards

tonschk,
No matey I understand you, it just that when the time comes for mega mods there has to be choices, example (GWX / WAC / NYGM).
But, before mega mod teams start developing they need a chain of command, a clear mission, allocate sub-mod commanders (objects manager / sound effects manager / skinning manager / packaging manager / documentation manager / spokes-person) and there would be several other positions, not to mention the ability to keep the team going through bad times as well.

Unterseeboot II SFX
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/UnterseebootIISFX.jpg
ALL NEW eerie creaks & groans whilst inside your U-Boat and the unique SFX of the movement of the ocean around you :o Theres no background talking in this mod just the sounds of your U-boat
This mod replaces seven original Silent Hunter V internal German U-Boats audio files with modded versions.
The seven audio files which have been modded are as follows;
amb_SubmarineInterior_Q.wav (30 minute continuous non-repetitive SFX)
ambiance_Command-room_Q.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Conning_tower_Q.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Kitchen_sequence.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Radio-room.wav (converted to silent)
ambiance_Torpedo-room_Q.wav (converted to silent)
Creaks_Level1.wav (converted to silent)
There is no SFX talking only the eerie sounds of your U-Boat.
Walking within the confines of your Unterseeboot from bow to stern the 30 minute continuous non-repetitive SFX audio file will enable you to talk to the men in the forward torpedo compartment whilst hearing distant coughing, hatches shutting, constant sounds of the hull of the Unterseeboot straining against the ocean.
For best results you should consider using my audio mods called;
U-Boat Radio Room Telemetry SFX
U-Boat Propulsion SFX
German U-Boat Crew Language Pack
U-Boat Watch Crew Routine SFX

The electric motor "wich sounds more like a hydraulic pump in this mod" keeps running in the background even with the diesel on. When you load the game surfaced, you only hear the diesel sounds, so everything ok. But after you have dived and re-surfaced, the electric motors sound won't disengage and it's annoying as hell.
Another thing is that the wav file's are waaay to loud.. This including the hydraulic pump, whoops.. I mean the electric motors:) They don'r really ad to the realism "silent running" when they are just as loud as the diesels..
I will have to uninstall this mod as it is useless now.. It's a shame, I really liked the diesel sound though..
And that's my two cents..

Question regarding the ambient sound mods (Watch crew routine, ballast tank, Unterseeboot SFX, etc) - is it possible to use these with the English voices? My thought process here is that you could have German background voices and English when you talked to your crewmen.
Is it possible? My german is limited to what I learned while deployed overseas in the mid 80's (nichts furstein!) so having german voices in game (even with subtitles) would prove problematic.
Just a thought :D

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/Silent%20Hunter%20V/U-BoatPropulsionSFX.jpg
This mod replaces eight original Silent Hunter V audio files with modded versions.
The eight audio files which have been modded are as follows;
motor_Diesel_LOOP.wav (created by Venatore)
motor_Electric_LOOP.wav (created by Venatore)
For best results you should consider using my audio mods called;

My misunderstanding then! lol - I took your post as you not being able to find the mod anymore. Quite a few of the older SH5 mods do not work, or are no longer needed when using TWoS or Sobers mega mods.
Not to detract from the U-190's post and your reply, but do I understand you to say you would like to see RFB-style submarine control and reaction in FotRSU? Or maybe real navigation like SH5 has? I've been following that quite a bit also lately in the SH5 threads. :salute:
