View Full Version : Ultra short range deck gun issues

Well after 2 years of not having a gaming computer I'm able to play SH4 again but on my first patrol in the middle of a heavy fog bank I almost run into a large freighter at maybe 100-300 yards so I man my deck gun thinking it would be a quick 10-15 round salvo at the waterline.

Well 8 rounds later even manual aiming couldn't hit this thing, So I give in a use a rear torpedo shot and sink it.

So the question what do I have to edit in order to make the gun hit something at point blank range like I could in SH3?

Where were the shells hitting/going then?

You have not mentioned what mods if any you are running.

If you can't hit in the Stock game, I suggest playing after drinking fewer beers—or more :D

The maybe 700 yards give or take on the other side of the target ship almost as if I aimed too high or the shell passed right through the ship.

You have not mentioned what mods if any you are running.

If you can't hit in the Stock game, I suggest playing after drinking fewer beers—or more :D

Stock but slightly edited in respect to the deck gun (increased traverse/elevation speed mostly) in my first attempt to address the issue I did increase the min. elevation from stock to -25 and while the barrel did go 25 degrees down from level the cross hair did stay at 0 degrees.

EDIT: Two other things I did edit was shell velocity (increased massively over stock) and set max range/angle 50000 @ 0 degrees

Change it back to stock values and see if it fixes it. If it does you can still change the values to your liking, but at a more conservative level.:yep:

The last part is defenatly the reason. Give it a range of 50000 at 20 or 30 degrees.
