This has been a want of mine for awhile, and while im not playing SH5 currently, i know i will again in the future, so it's my hope that somebody at some time, please..... fix the bloody crew dialog animations!
I do not know what files are involved in SH5, though i suspect it might be some of the same files that the MightyFine Crew Mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163591) uses. The insinuation here being to use that mod as a base, or get heretic to update his mod with any crewman dialog fix that may occur. :03:
Anyway, i strongly suspect what's causing the crewman to gyrate around in place while "talking" to them is that the game expects to use X amount of time during dialog sequences, and the animations are using up a smaller amount of time then what the game expects, so the game repeats the only animations it was told to play for that sequence.
To put it another way, if your getting crew speech that is repeating, (example, CE saying "Rudder, rudder", when ordering specific rudder commands) it's because the game expects to use (arbitrary number for sake of example) 5 seconds of speech or animations for this command. But the speech and the animation assigned to this command, is only using 3 of those 5 seconds. So what does the game do? It fills in the 2 second void by repeating the only instructions it had to execute for that command. Hence, the command gets repeated twice. (rudder, rudder) Had this exact problem in SH4, and it was fixed by using up the unused time frames by padding in additional animation or speech.
So i suspect the crew dialog animations is suffering from the same thing.
