I've just recently tried the 2nd conning tower upgrade for the VIIB, the one with the seperate platform aft of the tower, and the game won't let me equip the second flak gun for that platform leaving it empty! :damn: Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know how to fix it?

I think this is a bug in the Data\UPCDataGE\UPCUnitsData\Equipment.upc file. Some of the flak guns are not numbered correctly so they are not available for upgrades. Let me package some changes I have made and I will post to my filefront.

Try this and let me know if it fixes your issue:

-=[Alpha Download Links Removed]=-

This is a [WIP] and does more then just fix the Flak Guns
- Fixes Flak Gun Upgrade Pack
- Fixes FuMo61 Radar Antenna Upgrade Pack
- Adds FuMo65 Radar Antenna Upgrade Pack
- Adds Raised Rotating Round DF Radio Antenna surfaced.
- Adds Raised Rod Radio Antenna submerged.
- Adds Improved Alberich Anti-Sensor Coating upgrade pack for Type-VIIC and VIIC/41
- Adds Tarnmatte Anti-Sensor Coating upgrade pack for Type-VIIC and VIIC/41
- Adds Improved Tarnmatte Anti-Sensor Coating upgrade pack for Type-VIIC
- Snorkel (In Work):damn:

FEEDBACK: OK, this was downloade 15 time is less then 5 min, so I am expecting some kind of feedback from you guys.

I keep getting redirected to the news section of filefront every time I try click download... :damn: I'll keep trying...

Thanks for the fix, though! :yeah:

Fixes the flak problem as advertised! I did get a CTD on my first dive though... I went to periscope depth (and noticed this pack overwrote bigreg's real periscope height mod:wah:) and it crashed after I hit the keys to fully retract both scopes.

On the bright side, it's amusing to have decoy launchers, radar detectors and the balkongerät on my VIIB in mid-1940.

Yeah the dates are fudged a bit for testing purposes...:haha::woot:

Are you sure the CTD was from this MOD?

In the MOD folder you should remove files with the .GR2 extension. I forgot to remove those as nothing in those files has changed. They are only there to speed up load times when editing. I only MOD'd the .SIM files.
The change to the .SIM is for Anti-Sensor Coating suffix, Rod and Round DF Antenna's. The suffix change didn't work from this location as the only thing used from that SIM is the Stats boost to the sub. There is a Coatings.SIM that I still need to edit in order to get a different skin for each Anti-Sensor coating.

Hmm, okay then. One note about the antenna for functional purposes: the rod antenna was a vhf type and only worked for short range, line-of-sight communications such as ship-to-ship; it was the jumper lines going fore and aft from the tower that provided long range comms, so I'm not sure the antenna rod was ever deployed while submerged...

Good Point. Since most Submarines during WWII could receive radio messages while at periscope depth. I just assumed it was that antenna being used. It is suppose to extend as high as the ObsScope. I will adjust its height so it only raises about 1.5 meters hiding most or all of the mast.

Actually I found an interesting note that the radio and hydrophone operators were the same person! So u-boats could not listen to the hydrophones on the surface simply because there was no one at the station, and they could not receive radio messages submerged for the same reason.

The arcticle you linked does not say the Radioman was also the only Sonarman. It states that the Radioman was trainned to opperate the Sonar Station as well as the Radio Station. It is a very common practice in the military to cross train. The Radioman could also be trained as the ships doctor as well.
NO WHERE does it say the Sonar was not available when surfaced. Sonar availability while surface was dependant on the type equipment installed and the speed the boat is moving.
I am certain that the Sonarman was also trained to opperate the Radio Station as were a few othe crew members. Again this i military cross trainning.
The picture showing the Radioman at the Sonarstation also shows another crewman in the background wearing a headset hooked to the Sonar Station at the same time. When submerged below Periscope depth, there really is no need to man the radio station, so why not help on Sonar.

Hmm, I suppose so... I just assumed that the dual training meant that the radio crew doubled as sound crew. :hmmm:
