----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very detailed 3d models but these are not really a mod for Silent Hunter. They are just 3D models.
I mean there have been very detailed modesl before e.g.: http://www.3dhistory.de (http://www.3dhistory.de/)
But a mod is IMO something different.

Besides it does not need to be that detailed. As far as I concerned Bismarck and Co. are only supernumeraries in a submarine simulation played on the German side.
It would be a different story if I could take command and walk around though.
More accurate models for the destroyers would be more important. The Fletcher for example does not look much like the real Fletcher thanks to its strait deck and high side...

Anyway very nice 3D model.

P.S.: Is surface mod possible in SH5? - Seems to be a lot of trouble to add a playable unit to SH5.

:o Wow thats one nice detailed model. A lot of work must have gone in to that. Outstanding - Only thing is if you seen that in game you'ld never send a torp into it (Spend to much time admiring it, as it sailed into the horizon).

Great Work at all but this beauty will have 100.000.000.000 Polygons ore more and which existing SH-Engine can handle this ?????

It would be nice to see this ships in any kind of SH, perhaps same detailed allied freighters and tankers.

Well the actual polycount on this VERY detailed vessel bust be astronomical in terms of what the game engine can handle. But I think hes merely making a point here. If there is enough will and time, there is atleast 1 very capable 3d modeler to enlist :)

This shows what I believe is the main concern.. there is very capable 3d designers out there.. its the actual programmers and scripters that is the shortage.

I have to applaude you. You have skills in 3DsMax thats clear.. but the TIME...

Curious.. the SS on the anchor.. without smoothing.. how many polys just on that? :)

The model is extremely well detailed, and accurate to the bones! I know because i'm currently building a 1/200 size bismarck (distributed by hachette) made out of wood/bronze etc etc...

I'm really impressed because i couldnt find anything wrong in the pictures yet! It must be a very talented and patient modeler working on this project. :yeah:

Shockingly amazing, stunning. Really, how many hours did that take? How much detail have you included, i.e. how many decks?

This surely will take another 5 years or more for an average computer to handle such a monster in a game engine. But if you made a Fighting Steel 2 or Task Force 1942 II with detailed, walkable interior, you would also fall in the same trap as SHV -- walking around inside is for most part just fun for a while, but only micromanagement if you are there to fight.

But it would be awesome if you could walk around in it, if there were any engine capable of doing that with your model. Completely outside of any game, just like a very real 3D documentation! Walk inside and get lost...

Will you publish the model at any point so we can explore it as well? ;-)

They weren't made by Tomi, he posted that they were made by:

TIRPITZ Mr. XTSTiber....Location: The Netherlands
BISMARCK Mr. cgexperience Location: Australia

I don't know where Tomi found them though. I'd guess their websites whilst he was doing some research.

Hmmh, too bad, no luck in finding the website of the Bismarck modeler so quickly, but this here appears the link to the Tirpitz project:

http://www.3d-palace.com/forum/user-submitted-works-progress/22464-battleship-dkm-tirpitz-4.html

I am still impressed, those are awesome models. Imagine a game like Fighting Steel, better Task Force 1942 (...gun control...), with such a detailed modeling of the superstructures and a real dynamic campaign... No matter whether Pacific or Atlantic. I hope one day someone will pick those old game ideas up.

After you get finished designing the Bismarck you ought to design the H-44 class with the 20 inch guns and 111,00o tons. This was one tough looking warship that the Yamato would of cringed at.
And this would be great in a updated Fighting Steel if someone would take this on. I challenge you UBISOFT to do something to make up what you lacked in sh5 maybe its time for a change of pace and go with Fighting Ships of WW2 Maybe even as a title. :yeah:

Well I found a book at Amazon in which you guys are modeling the Bismarck and also the H Class that were not built. It looks like a very detailed plan drawings of these ships. Even the O class battlecruisers that had 6 15 inch guns and the successors to the Scharnhorst and Gneisnau.

The book is called BAttleships: Axis and Neutral Battleships in World War II by William H., Jr. Garzke and its at Amazon.com. Might be a book you guys might want.

Hi all:). I've seen the work of this beautiful ship (I know historically) and I must say that if you become a mod for SH5 would be something extraordinary . I read that this new system there are many difficulties with respect to the SH4 but I think that joining forces and who has skill and experience in these years like other MOD could draw from a great job :yeah:. From the historical missions of the Bismarck in the Atlantic to those of the Tirpitz in Norway and can get in the Mediterranean with Italian battleships  I hope to become a reality. Truly AMAZING! I wonder if some team would be interested about developing Royal Navy surface units, perhaps with 4 or 5 walkable 3D stations. The Royal Oak,HMS Hood,HMS Ark Royal,Flower class and some destroyer would be very welcome.

You've used the report button to ask if someone can build the Roma for SH5

The report button automatically generates and sends a message to the moderators section and as such should only be used to report bad posts etc.

No harm is done but posting on this thread saves me sending you a PM.
