Running TMO 1.9 -
Does anybody know if the battle is in the MOD, or if it is implemented in stock 1.5?

It's not in stock, that's for sure.
IMO, even looking for actual battles is pretty pointless, the game engine can't fight them properly---or historically. The devs really would have needed a more scriptable approach (not to mention AI launched torpedoes). You'd ideally want them to shoot, then have the mission designer make some invulnerable to fire from non-player craft until a certain time tick, or simple sink them at time X, etc.

It's in RSRD for sure, on time and perfectly scripted. Not sure about TMO itself.
Day before the battle a large allied TF shows up, then the large allied invasion force. At night a large group of CA's leading the way shows up.
They go around the Island giving battle then leave.
A good surface battle to watch and join in on. Save some torps for all the ships left dead on the water.
I found where I did a SS story of the battle here.

I run pages backwards, so just find the first post. There are many large suface battles in the game with RSRD, not sure about stock. The battle of Surigao Strait a nice large one with all the old US BB's sunk at Pearl. Think the Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and others take on the JP's Fuso's. Many other types there, CA's, ect...but nice large surface battle to watch.
