Am I the only noob thats confused with how to install mods on this game through Steam? The mods for this game are the most confusing things I've ever seen! I need help with the following

- Installing the Fm_NewInteriors Mod
- Installing the GWX Gold Mod

Ok first off.

For the interiors mod I did the following!
I downloaded and installed the JSGME thing and using the individual download option, I installed it in my the following...

SteamApps/Common/Silent Hunter 3/

then created the MODS folder with the application

SteamApps/Common/Silent Hunter 3/MODS

I put the interior stuff in the MODS folder then enabled it with the program, I then started SH3 with Steam, the mod didn't work, I could walk around the submarine, I couldn't go to the engine room, I could do anything the mod said I could do, I tried doing the same again, still it didn't work.

So then I disabled them all, now I'm installing that GWX Gold to see if that will work.

TL;DR - Most confusing modfication installations in ze world :damn:

EDIT;-

Installed GWX Gold and now I have the list of all the mods in the Generic Mod Enabler - Im going to try interiors again. Also GWX works but it seems really zoomed in, everywhere I go it looks like im looking through a magnifying glass.

I'm uninstalling GWX as I dont feel im ready for it, at the moment I prefer the normal game, but I still need help with interiors!

Hi again. I just finished answering as much as I could in the other thread, so I'll just direct you there.

But I'll also add that you will find us friendly and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask for anything else you need.

And add that yes, GWX can be a little daunting at first. It's a good idea to play the stock version for awhile until you get the hang of it.

I just installed the New Interiors mod. A word of caution. Those diesels are mighty loud. I removed the sound portion of that mod for the sake of peace of mind and kept the interiors.

Sailor Steve gave you some very good advice about playing stock. Add mods sparingly and with caution. Open mods up before you install them so you will learn what parts of the game are being modified and how. Save your original files so you can go back. You'll soon get the hang of it. It takes time.
