Hi Kaleuns!

Here it is!

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8798/camomodannouncment.jpg (http://img195.imageshack.us/i/camomodannouncment.jpg/)

This is a little mod made to change the crew uniforms, but only the crew and not the officers.

This mod is not aimed for realism but rather for eye-candy only.

Looks nice but.. camo uniforms were never used in Kriegsmarine or any other country navy, is not point to have it. These were used mostly by the infantry and land troops to help on field battles...

Royale-Adio

Well, I do agree with you both. They're nowhere near realistic. It is more like an eye candy, as are all my mods.

Truth is, I LOVE to play with graphics (as you can see on the background of the second screen, added a new poster and white wall paint), and the result is my mods. Unrealistic yet nice looking, in and on your boat.

Remember the Elite Flecktarn Camo Uniforms mod by Venatore for SH3? Unrealistic yet nice looking. That is my motto, my friends! :D

Zedi
07-09-10, 04:45 AM
Well, if ur up for non-realistic stuff and clothing.. how about some pimp clothing for the crew, or some wicked leather clothing as did a mod in SH3? :D The crew is such a useless bunch of retards, so lets give them the appropriate clothing :P

Royale-Adio

Okay, let's say semi semi-realistic.

If the clothes can be 'mixed-and-matched' then those will be very useful, as it's not inconcievable that some sailors might have picked up an item or two from soldiers they knew.

Watching a lot of Naval War movies the Cook is always some Ex-Black-Ops type busted back for some sort of UCMJ violation ending up as a cook.
Pimp my cook wearing Black leather trousers, Blackish Brown boots, Soiled apron, soiled towel over his sholder. Green T-Shirt with a H-Harnes holding 6-8 knifes, Combat Helmet and a smoldering cigar butt in his mouth.

Additionally, after the Dunkirk pocket fell, the Kreigsmarine inherited a number of british p37s that were left behind. British uniforms would not be unappropriate after the fall of France to Germany.

Some of the crew may have been transfered from the infantry, bringing the uniforms they already had. This could explain some of the crew wearing Infantry uniforms in stock game.

Yep. I've seen a picture in one of my books of a Otto Kretschmer being awarded his Iron Cross by Admiral Raeder.
In the photo his crew are wearing British battledress abandoned during the retreat from France.

I completed the first uniform.

You guys bring good points about crew transfer and uniform being kept in the process. I like the idea.

The first uniform consists of a camo sweather and jeans. I find it a bit more realistic than the first prototype in firts post. I used a desert camo for this one but I can change it in the future.

I discovered that, since the pants I modded are widely used aboard the sub by crewmembers, almost everyone is wearing jeans now... Only the jackets and sweathers changes. Some uses shorts but I haven't modded them yet.

Good work man, those look really good.

If you are interested in doing/redoing the games uniforms I have an idea/request. In Conus00's graphics mod he includes redone clothing for the crew. What he did already looks great, and he made everything very historically accurate. However, I have taken a look at the textures and found that I was able to improve a few things. The down side is, I don't have enough time to go through all of them and make the improvements. You could go through his stuff, and release an improved version of the historical uniforms. Heck, judging by your work here, I am pretty sure you would do a better job of it than I could anyway.

Just a suggestion. Either way, keep up the good work.:salute:

Welcome!:D

Yeah, Goblin Editor is almost instant preview. Load your model for the character you are working. When done editing textures, save changes, activate MOD, Hit F-9(refresh) in goblin and you see how it looks.

Goblin must be configured: Tools -> Options
ActorsDirectory = path to your SH5 install directory
RootFolder = path to your SH5 install directory

All I can say is play around. The image in my post below for was using the GR2 and CHR files in the Characters folder.
1. Open the GR2
2. Merge the CHR file.

I haven't done anything other then that so you are going to have to play and find out what you need.
I do know the data\characters\animations folder is actual in game animations. I was looking for the Cook (Hack) but didn't find him.
Maybe someone here knows more and can give additional information.

I really do want to Pimp my Cook.

I'm trying to figure it out ATM.

By playing around a bit, I noticed that everything that refers to humans is called sapiens. I think you can edit the different characters and clothes but it CTD's before I can go any further.

Royale-Adio
07-10-10, 02:02 AM
And I figured it out.

Turns out that if you're on vista 32x, you have to change themes settings to windows classic to overcome an annoying bug. But nevermind...

You basically have to double-click Sapiens@ Dummy1 and then select characters, the double click sapiens again et voila, just select which part to edit. On the plus side, the names of the parts/textures are exactly the same so no trouble finding them now.

Glad I was able to point at some tools to save you some time. Good to hear you were able to figure out how to use them.:up: Now viewing changes you make will take a few seconds rather then several minutes.:rock:

WARNING: Be sure you do not save changes while using Goblin or you may change the entire ships crew all at once to. Not sure about this but I wouldn't want the entire crew all looking the same.:haha:

They won't change. I allready tried that but it doesn't do anything at all. When you save, you actually just change the way your Dummy01 looks.

Now, I'm trying to find a way to actually change the way they appear in-game, mixing clothes for different crewmembers. I'm sure ther's a way. If it is not in Goblin, then it's in CFG's.

This is fantastic news. That means that Crew Clothing can change depending on climate zone. Lots of work to get this done though.

**EDIT**

After playing around with the waypoints files, some crew are missing from the watch crew, and they do not act as before. I do not know why. Could somebody with knowledge of Goblin Editor enlighten me about this issue?

Thanks for your comments!

It will be a texture mod only, as tweaking the waypoints file proved itself efficient yet risky.

I still have two coats to reskin then I'll release it. Note that the officers are not reskined in this mod.

On a side note, I still wonder how Heretic did change the appearence of the Officers in his Mightyfine mod.

SteelViking
07-16-10, 07:01 PM
In order to change the way the officers look. You simply need to hunt down the correct texture file for their clothing, or head depending on what you want to change. If you download Conus00's graphics mod, he changes the uniforms on all crew members, and it makes it easy to pinpoint which texture controls which crew member.

My mod does exactly that.

Heretic found a way to change the 3D models for characters like the XO, the chief engineer,the navigation officier, ect. I mean, no more XO with eye patch, when you apply his mod, he's gone. THAT's what I want but so far, no results. If Heritic is still around, I'd love to get his help on this matter.

I sent him another PM, this time asking about which lines to edit and I'm still awaiting his reply.

I sent him another PM, this time asking about which lines to edit and I'm still awaiting his reply.

For one of his posts on that thread:

Here's some simple examples using the function Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility().
syntax is Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("object", 1 or 0); 1 for on, 0 for off. Objects are defined in the body parts file in Characters folder.

Crewmen are made up of Head, Left Eye, Right Eye, Torso, and Pants. Optionally they can have a Hat and an Object. They start out as defined in the CHR files, be can all be changed with this function.

Add binoculars to a crewman.

Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("object1_Binocular", 1);

Adding a hat. Not all hats work on all heads. Some of the larger heads will show through the hat.

Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("A_Hat01", 1);

Changing a uniform. Important to remove the old one or both will be displayed.

Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("D_Torso05", 1); <-- adds Torso05
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("D_Torso01", 0); <-- Removes Torso01

Adding a beard.

Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("object1_Barba_CAP13", 1);

Changing a head. It's best to also use the proper eyes. It's not required, but they might not line up right otherwise.

Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("B_Head03", 0);
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("B_EyeL03", 0);
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("B_EyeR03", 0);
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("D_Head10", 1);
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("D_EyeL10", 1);
Wp:SetBodyPartVisibility("D_EyeR10", 1);

The stock scripts use this function to convert the XO into the Captain for the tutorial. Whenever you see someone with something in their hand, a book, knife, screwdriver, whatever, it's done with this function.

I found out that this was the default waypoints of the game, and not the result of having played around with the waypoint files.

The mod is now complete, and expect a download shortly.

I included edited waypoints files for the crew. I tested it on my system and it worked fine but I'm not sure if it will work just as fine on yours, so feedback is required.

I strongly recommend using this along with Heretic's Mightyfine crew mod.

Cheers! :salute:
