I've just begun adding some of my favorite skins to FlakMonkey's wonderful Type IIa Tuneup, which does a complete makeover to the boat, making it much more realistic. I didn't like the light grey skin, so I went with Venatore's early-war dark grey, and I seem to have actually gotten it right.

And a camo skin originally done by Sean for the AI IIb, which I some time ago managed to get onto the IIa as it's my favorite:

I'm quite happy with the results, but the IIa Tuneup mod doesn't seem to have waterstreams. I looked at the files in S3D and can see the many added ones that make the streams happen, but I have no idea how to make them work with the IIa Tuneup mod.

Can anyone do this or advise me on how to do it, and do it right?

The fastest way is to cut the waterstreams out in a hex editor as a block,
replace the parent ID's with a replace all command and then past into the dat.

The long way is to delete all nodes in the donor dat except for the waterstreams stuff and re-parent the ID's.
Save this as a dat file.
Then import it to the dat you want it in.

Uh oh. I don't speak that language. I'm functionally computer illiterate. :D

Maybe Flakmonkey could update this fantastic work with waterstream. I do no need a new skin. ImO is the released one perfect for the periode of war this boots were used. If they would have been looking like above pictures, none of the sailors had ever got an weekend.:03: Don`t forget it was the time the german navy had never tolerated such a looklike. We are not talking about 44/45.
Maybe rubini could help. I think it was him who did the orginal waterstream. Would be very appreciated. :yeah:
Best regards :salute:

I might agree about the rusty ones, but the first dark grey one was the standard early-war color as far as I know. But the basic original doesn't have them either. I'm going to find that thread and ask FlakMonkey there.

the first dark grey one was the standard early-war color as far as I knowTrue early war boats were painted in that dark grey (Schlickgrau) like f.e. Prien's U47, but also light grey (Hellgrau) was used, like f.e. in Kretschmer's U99. Go with whatever skin you prefer, both will be historically correct  The only not historically correct thing AFAIK is the red underwater hull paint, it was not used but instead the dark grey one.

I prefer to use historical paint schemes where I can, but I'm limited to what other people make as I have no experience with this type of artwork.

What I'd really like is waterstreams for this amazing mod. After looking at it up close I never want to go back to the original type II models.
